Okay, all snark aside, I love that this designer used a newly-discovered animal. Bless them.

Looking at the "Items Seen" list I notice what must be a joke item. I hope I come across it once before it gets culled.

Marathon Voter Season 9

Whoops. I just clicked "Vote" right before I noticed the wordcount was above 300 words.

The competing item wasn't half-bad, either. Whoops indeed.

Not a huge fan of items that simply produce an "alter self" or "disguise self" spell effect through some convoluted means.

Dedicated Voter Season 8, Dedicated Voter Season 9

Severely undercosted item (like at least an order of magnitude under) vs item that will get DQ.

Marathon Voter Season 6, Marathon Voter Season 7, Marathon Voter Season 8, Marathon Voter Season 9

Just got my tag and have seen about 173 unique items. Lots of lack of template, lots of blood, lots of story.

Had to report 10 different items for possible DQ mostly for non-PRD stuff.

Did see one nice item and some with potential if it had been developed.

Overall a normal pre-first cull voting process. Gonna vote some more and grab some zz's.

I don't think that person understands how unique weapons work.

Well, this item is totally unashamed of the fact that it's a ring. Even has the right feat requirement. Kinda refreshing honesty, really.

Dedicated Voter Season 7, Dedicated Voter Season 8, Marathon Voter Season 9

Wait, wasn't that item almost exactly the same as one submitted last year? OK, except you added this weird bit that doesn't seem to fit the rest of the item's theme... yeah, the weird bit makes it a completely new item and not something recycled from last year. Yep. Uh huh. Sure.

a perfectly serviceable if uninspired item, but it's modern day reference killed any chance it may have had.

I have seen a number of what I thought were joke items at first glance, but turned out to have tight themes, interesting abilities, but still have a jokey name (voted for most of the joke items I have seen so far).

14 items submitted for DQ.

First time I haven't hit Star Voter by end of first day of voting...

Yeah, I saw that one, too. It wasn't fooling me, either.

Turns out I just needed dinner and some time away from the computer.

Swiss Army Knife item. *marks bingo card*

Only five more, then the card is full and I win.

Silver Crusade Contributor , Marathon Voter Season 9

I've had to DQ 15 items thus far, mostly for stuff not in the PRD.

Some of them were really good, too. :/

I haven't seen my submission yet...

You get bonus points if you use up all 300 words, right?

Clearly the voting system is telling me I should get some alcohol in my system. Two alcohol themed items paired up.

If you turn this into a drinking game, you're going to be making regular Fortitude saves vs. alcohol poisoning.

Note for next year: Consider making an alcoholic blood drinking torc with the power to make teleporting amphibious undead. Bonus points if it breaks the action economy and filigree economy.

Yes. If I did shots instead of marking a bingo card, I could be in trouble.

Very very meta...

But with potential, maybe with some practice next year.

After reading that item, I'm remembering a past campaign which featured a pansexual male bard and a very brash, irreverent, but solidly heterosexual male fighter that he had a crush on. I can very vividly picture the bard attempting to use that item to the fighter's benefit, only to have the fighter screaming "No! No! By Urgathoa's nethers, just let me die!"

Okay weird crossbow, you make that theme work. Nice job.

Oops, did a last minute change of item name in the description, but forgot to change it in the title field of the submitting form. (But I'm not gonna hold that mistake against you in the voting.)

Not only does that item's main power duplicate an existing standard item's power, it does it less well mechanically and more expensively. Wut?!

I really like this item's concept, but the power progression increases exponentially, and it's just too much, especially when measured against the item's cost.

Buh....

Just saw my item, and I can honestly say the item it's up against is so confusing, poorly worded, oddly priced, and uses so many subjective 'if the GM feels like it' or 'this mechanic has never before been seen in Pathfinder' sort of things that I had no reservations at all about voting for my own.

O_o I just. *gazes at that item some more* It feels like it wasn't actually designed with the PF rule system in mind at all. How odd. It's sort of interesting in a pure conceptual-and-flavor kind of way, it's just.... it just isn't really Pathfinder.

Yeah!

Item contains a message to the voter, above and beyond the description and mechanics of the item. *marks bingo card*

Leaving out the construction requirements completely does not make your item not a staff.

Thinly veiled obvious modern item... Bad monkey.

I'm noticing a trend toward items that treat abstract, mechanical game concepts as actual in-world things, as well as items that treat certain game elements as if they're the same across the board, rather than differing depending on the context. Can't really explain further without giving away item details.

Why no use spellcheck? :( There's zillions of free sites you could run something through for a check... you have a bare minimum of 3 spelling errors there, my friend, and arguably more. :( Your item had an interesting concept behind it but the typos and spelling issues unfortunately have led me to vote for its rival.

Heck, just typing it into the box prior to posting would put squiggly lines under misspelled words. That right there shows the author couldn't be bothered to correct their mistakes prior to submitting.

Yeah. :( It's too bad, and it's even possible due to some wording issues in that item that the speaker may be ESL... but if that's the case, it's even more incumbent on you to seek out some grammar and typo vetting from a fluent-English speaker, and to pay attention to, as you say, the squigglies. Alas.

Unrelated: okay, I thought people were joking about the ale items so far, but nope, damn, there's a lot of ale items so far.

I didn't think there was a way to make the inclusion of "quotes" look any more awkward and misplaced.
