"Display" rule question

When I "Display" a card, does that card stay displayed when my turn ends or does it go back into my hand at the end of each turn?

It really depends on the type of card as well as the text on the card. There are some cards that tell you to Display it next to a location (Banner of Valor) or next to your ship (Jolly Roger) to give you benefits. Some are simply displayed as part of their mechanic like Cohort cards.

Generally, when you display a card from your hand, it does return later on in the turn. But there are occasions when you keep a card Displayed until it is used or until a condition causes it to move back to your hand, discarded, etc.

Following up on what Theryon said, basically whatever tells you to display the card will also tell you when to stop displaying it.

Sovereign Court

And if it doesn't say (I don't think this has happened yet) then it doesn't come back.

There are card that do not say when they get undisplayed. For example, Padrig, the eidolon. And I think cards like Besmara's Bones oder Jolly Roger, too.

Zaister - it is exactly Padrig I was wondering about :P

Padrig stays displayed for the entire scenario.

Great, thanks guys! Any chance you can answer my new question?

I've been playing solo Balazar, and I've been using his skill that lets you discard a spell to draw a random monster from the box.

My question is, can I play this monster from my hand to defeat a bane that I encounter?

If so, how do I resolve this? Do I just compare my summoned monsters combat difficulty against the encountered monsters/henchmans combat difficulty and if mine is higher banish both cards? Or do I need to roll dice?

If not, what is the point of discarding a spell to gain a monster card? I know you can then banish the monster to draw a new card but that seems like a bad exchange to me...

No need to ask the same question in more than one place. In any case, have a look at Padrig. Here's the example text from the rulebook, pg 27.

Balazar is not so lucky. He rolls a 2 on his d6, and has to discard the ally Vulture. He can’t play weapons or spells, but he doesn’t think he needs to. He’ll be making a Strength check of d6. Padrig allows him to put a card on top of his deck to add his Arcane skill of d10+3, so Balazar does so with the spell Enchanted Fang. Balazar then banishes the Mongrel Wizard, which fortuitously shares the Wizard trait with Millorn, so he adds another 1d4 plus 1d6 to the check. Rolling 2d6+d10+1d4+3, Balazar gets a 17, and defeats the villain!

If they don't say when they are un-displayed, they come back at the end of the scenario, per the rule on rebuilding your deck after a scenario.
