The Samsaran's Mystic Past Life alternate race trait reads thus:

Advanced Players Guide, Samsaran wrote:
Mystic Past Life (Su): You can add spells from another spellcasting class to the spell list of your current spellcasting class. You add a number of spells equal to 1 + your spellcasting class's key ability score bonus (Wisdom for clerics, and so on). The spells must be the same type (arcane or divine) as the spellcasting class you're adding them to. For example, you could add divine power to your druid class spell list, but not to your wizard class spell list because divine power is a divine spell. These spells do not have to be spells you can cast as a 1st-level character. The number of spells granted by this ability is set at 1st level. Changes to your ability score do not change the number of spells gained. This racial trait replaces shards of the past.

Reading it as this, does it work with the new psychic magic? I would be inclined to believe it does, because they psychic classes came out long after the ARG, so psychic magic would have no reason to be called out.

What do other people think? what does the Paizo Dev Team think?

Same type is same type, divine and arcane might be just listed as examples

That was my thought as well, but LoneWolf Development seems to believe otherwise for whatever reason

If you're talking about HeroLab, it wouldn't be the first time it diverts from the actual rules.

Silver Crusade

I am, but specifically I sent an email to the developers of it and their response was "as the trait is written it does not apply to psychic classes. Do you have a source from Paizo that says otherwise?"

Herolab seems to code for a lot of other properties that are not Paizo.

Removed a post and reply to it. Using "full-retard" (yes we know it's a reference) isn't OK on paizo.com.

Many, many instances of that, in fact. My favorite was the reinterpretation of the Oracle's Life Link to match the originally printed Shaman version.

Hah. Never take HeroLab as a rules authority. They're regularly wrong. With that said, Paizo's rules are unclear here. Clarification needed.

FAQ'd.

I agree, hence the email to them and the post on the boards :-)

I was just looking at this. My interpretation is that since the psychic class is something of a hybrid, we could take either. Still, it is vague at this point.

Scratch that. I think you can only take other psionic spells for other psionic classes.

So, they might actually be right, and everyone's favorite Munchkin Race might lose out for a change.

Straight from James Jacobs. Good enough for me :-)
