Multimorph + polymorph any object

Rules Questions

What happens when you're a wizard with the Multimorph discovery and you cast polymorph any object on yourselfin regard to duration?

Suppose you're human and you polymorph into an elf. Duration = permanent.

Can you them change into a dragon (for instance)? The duration is shorter than permanent. Something like 10 min per Level.

You finish fighting then polymorph back into an elf. With at least 2 minutes left on the duration.

Is the duration now permanent again?

Rinse repeat. Is this an effective way to essentially have shape change abilities, subject to good timing and lack of dispel?

Looks like it.

Although incidentally, a human turning into a dragon has a duration of 1 week, because they're in the same kingdom and a dragon has a lower Intelligence than any self-respecting wizard.

So the main benefit of this isn't actually increased time spent in powerful forms, it's just the versatility of being able to switch across forms pretty much as often as you want. Quite handy, but definitely within the intent of the multimorph discovery, and not really overpowered for a level 8 spell and a feat.

Theoretically you could do it at 5th level with a scroll, though it's unliked to be allowed.

That would not work.

Benefit: When you cast a spell of the polymorph subschool on yourself, you may expend 1 minute of the spell’s duration as a standard action to assume another form allowed by the spell. You can do this as often as you like, subject to the duration of the spell. This is a supernatural ability.

Items as Spells: Does using a potion, scroll, staff, or wand count as "casting a spell" for purposes of feats and special abilities like Augment Summoning, Spell Focus, an evoker's ability to do extra damage with evocation spells, bloodline abilities, and so on?

No. Unless they specifically state otherwise, feats and abilities that modify spells you cast only affect actual spellcasting, not using magic items that emulate spellcasting or work like spellcasting.

Ahh. Good to know. So it's a high level trick, but sill a good one.
