Pathfinder Uncahined and Occult Adventures, problems with compatibility...

Rules Questions

I have just noticed, that if you want to play with the skill changes brought about in Pathfinder Unchained while being a class from Occult Adventures you will run into several problems with compatibility both of which I would expect Paizo to address before releasing the books.

Problem first, there is no Consolidated Class Skill list for occult classes. None. And before you suggest, I don't want to house rule one. Pathfinder is/was a complete rule system and I want to treat it as such by keeping it clean from crazy houserules.

Problem second, it is not mentioned how do the new Occult Skills interact with the skill merge from unchained, especially given how Appraise gets removed / shifted into background skills.

So Please, dear beloved Paizo, address these changes in your next Errata or at least FAQ. Pretty please.

I just want to say that if you don't want to use houserules Unchained probably isn't the book for you. It's material isn't going to necessarily be compatible with content from other books, or even itself , Unchained Rogue needs houserules to function with consolidated skills for example.

It seems like a shame, given how consolidated and background skills make - they are much closer to realism anyway.

Well, with background skills at least you don't need to make any change what so ever. It works with occult adventures without any compatibility issues.

Non placet.

What..? There is no compatibility issue... It being a background skill doesn't stop people from putting skill points and background skill points into it, and then someone with psychic sensitivity (whether through magic or feat) can then use the occult skill unlock.

Fine. I suppose so. It still would be nice if Paizo released updated tables. Also I feel this makes Pathfinder Unchained kind of pointless at best - a trap purchase at worst.

I bought the book for the updated classes and the OPTIONS for our home game. It repeatedly states in the book that they are options and not definitive rule changes. I see it as more of a test for things to come. If PF 2.0 ever becomes a thing, a lot of this could be a main stay in the system.

Really? This is what invalidates the entire book and makes it a "trap"? Wow melodramatic much?

It's a book of house rules. I'm not entirely sure what you were expecting to make you that disappointed in the text.

Case in point: it's not only house-rules in Unchained.

PFS cares much for it, only unchained Summoners are legal now.

It is just house-rules in unchained. PFS using something from the book does not make it no longer a houserule, as PFS is a game full of houserules.... It has more houserules than my home game does for god's sake and I'm a homebrewer.
