Help me pick a magic item

Advice

I am going to try and play the serpents skull, and I'm thinking of a half-orc paladin who'll be melee (scimitar buckler since heavy shield won't allow lay on hands). The gm for starting this game will allow ANY cl 5 item or lower to just be on the character when the game starts. I'm not familiar with spell casting or item creation, so I'm asking what would be most useful for the ap, a paladin, and in general the most broken items to select.

Thanks

If you're going strength-based, a minotaur belt would be useful.

A circlet of persuasion helps you be a face and will be handy once you need to make concentration checks to cast spells in combat.

A bracelet of mercy would be nice for any paladin.

Vambraces of the genie would just be generally useful.

gloves of recon
earring of language comprehension
belt of the lightning leaper
ioun stone (+1 to all attacks)
bladed belt

Wand of CLW. Or CMW or CSW, as those would be CL3 and CL5. Or other neat wands. And scrolls! (Check your spell list, and your GM as to whether he means CL that you'd toss the spell at or what the wand would be made at. In either case, CLW would pass muster, at least. And don't be a jerk about the wands or your GM will realise how loose his condition is!)

Apprentice's Cheating Gloves. CL3, and you get mage hand and prestidigitation AT WILL. I want them for my barbarian.

Sleeves of many garments. Change clothes as a standard action. For when you can't afford glammered armour but still want that battle ballgown look with this fall's breastplate line.

Quick Runner's Shirt showed up in some guides as 'Pounce 1/day' Since it..kind'a is. Move your speed as a swift action. Then use a full round action to hit stuff.

Pirate's eyepatch. You know you want it. It does stuff too but you want it anyway. Eyes of Keen Sight if you're boring and want to see stuff better.

Helm of Comprehend Languages and Read Magic. Long name, amazing results, CL4.

Wayfinder. You want one.

Edit: To give you an idea of how these I think would be great? The only one of these that I even thought of your actual build for was the quick runner's shirt. And the cheating gloves, but more that you don't get those cantrips on any class but an arcane caster.

a +1 silversheen returning javelin.

I actually decided to play a swashbuckler instead. Using the fates favored trait I'm taking stone of good luck.

Don't forget to pick up a Jinsaga for the +2 AC.

Yep, that way a single trait is doing as much as at least 3 feats. Fate's Favored is stupidly good.

If your heavy shield were a throwing shield, you could release it (even throw it) as a Free Action, so you would be able to use that and lay on hands.

You could go for Body Wrap of Mighty Strikes +7 at 147,000 gp, since it is CL5.

More restrained is Amulet of Mighty Fists +5 at 100,000 gp, also at CL5.

Check those casting requirements again.

Quote:

CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS

Craft Wondrous Item, greater magic fang, creator’s caster level must be at least three times the bodywrap’s bonus, plus any requirements of the melee weapon special abilities

Guys, the OP already picked his item.

I am still interested in hearing ideas honestly. No need to stop people from suggesting.

Tengu Drinking Jug, because alcohol.

I know them. Do you?

Magic Item Creation wrote:
Note that all items have prerequisites in their descriptions. These prerequisites must be met for the item to be created. Most of the time, they take the form of spells that must be known by the item's creator (although access through another magic item or spellcaster is allowed). The DC to create a magic item increases by +5 for each prerequisite the caster does not meet. The only exception to this is the requisite item creation feat, which is mandatory. In addition, you cannot create potions, spell-trigger, or spell-completion magic items without meeting their spell prerequisites.

This does not matter because: PRD

Magic Item Descriptions wrote:
Caster Level (CL): The next item in a notational entry gives the caster level of the item, indicating its relative power. The caster level determines the item's saving throw bonus, as well as range or other level-dependent aspects of the powers of the item (if variable). It also determines the level that must be contended with should the item come under the effect of a dispel magic spell or similar situation.

OP indicated the CL limit was 5, not the craft DC. My item suggestions are both CL5, thus OK.

These were the most expensive items CL5 or less I could find in the Magic Item database.

Any GM that lets items this expensive "happen" to be on a new character, does not understand WBL.
