small barbarian for Core PFS

Advice

Wanted to get some feedback. I'm going to make a halfling or gnome barbarian for the PFS Core Campaign, probably with a reach build of some kind.

I know small characters are not optimized for this role, but I want to do it anyway. Is there anything I should look at doing to keep this character? within the core / small bounds I want to optimize him as best I can so I don't bring my tables down with him.

Are you set on doing this core?

I played once with a standard campaign alchemist / barbarian gnome that was a damage machine, using mutagens with rage -- he shredded everything in sight.

With that not being an option, it might be interesting to look into multi-classing ranger or druid for the animal companion, and then playing the trio of scenarios that grants you an axe-beak mount.

Axe-beak mount scenarios:

Quest for Perfection

An axe beak would be a great mount. Fast, and with reach so that it can hit things when you do.

I am set on doing this particular character core only.

I edited my original post while you were posting... Are you adverse to multi-classing?

Not necessarily. Just want to play a raging midget. And I am rather addicted to AoO reach builds...

Seriously consider pumping UMD for a wand of enlarge person and/or buy a bunch of potions of enlarge person.

Yes, the raging mini does decently. But then when needed you AND your weapon go up a size.
