Slayer and Ranger Combat Styles

Rules Questions

So a friend in Pathfinder wants to make a character that progresses along both the slayer and ranger classes. He believes he can select the archery combat style as a slayer at lvl 2 and 6 and then the twf combat style as a ranger at 2 and 6. granted he would not be uber at both but he believes the slayer target enemy and ranger favored enemies will both stack? Is he right? can he select two different combat styles with the two different classes?

They will stack. He can select two styles. Is this gestalt or multiclass?

Anyway, it's usually a pretty bad choice because both styles require a ton of feats.

I was thinking that too, but then I looked into the hybrid classes and saw this:

"Parent Classes: Each one of the following classes lists two classes that it draws upon to form the basis of its theme. While a character can multiclass with these parent classes, this usually results in redundant abilities. Such abilities don't stack unless specified. If a class feature allows the character to make a one-time choice (such as a bloodline), that choice must match similar choices made by the parent classes and vice-versa (such as selecting the same bloodline)."

That would seem to say that once you lock in Ranger Combat Style via one of the classes you are locked in for the other as well.
