rubber, spells, potions and alchemists....

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

does rubber the stretchy and snappy type exist in pathfinder?

if it does how would one go about getting or making it?

if it does not is there something similar to it? can i processed and make the rubber?

if not can i make a potion or cast a spell on an item or make a magical item that would be just like rubber like using a potion of rubberskin on a rope?

i ask these questions because i am an alchemist and i want to move just a wee bit further from the combat and found a video on youtube that show how to make a sling bow that would be great for an alchemist. i can link the video if anyone wants. but i would like to make such a weapon for my alchemist.

i did not know where to place this so i put it here. but if it should go in advice or rulings just move it there. thanks. and i apologize for any inconveniences.

By making the item you are drifting into homebrew. Even if rubber doesn't exist you could speak to your gm about homebrewing it in

You might want to look into the bombchucker.

that binds a hand and makes it so you can't on the spot make potions.

as the hand wielding the bombchucker can’t be used for any other purpose

actually if you talking about the bomb class feature, it specifically says you can

"A bombchucker doesn’t get in the way of preparing and throwing a bomb created with the bomb class feature."

Most of what we call rubber is actually some sort of complex synthetic. However, real rubber from a rubber tree is not terribly complex to make. Sargava would be a likely source in golarion.

I think if you want something like a slingshot for flavor, that would be fine, I would model it after the flask thrower in terms of game stats.

Basically the flask thrower is like a Lacrosse stick, while a bomb chucker is like a Jai Alai cesta.

anyone mind if i link the youtube video so i can share what i would like to make for the game i am in.

The thing in your video definitely occupies the hand. I'd say it would need a longer-than-free action to pull it off. Might require both hands, too.
