Teaching Someone to Run for D&D Adventurer's League

4th Edition

One of my friends asked me if I could teach him D&D for the purpose of running games at conventions. While I'm familiar with the system, I have played in any D&D Adventurer's League to give him particular guidance for special things to expect or be aware he needs to do for organized play. While he could probably learn that as he went, I would rather help with that where I can.

Are there any particular adventures or encounters that are particularly representative that I should introduce him with? Beyond the player's guide is there anything else I should read and point him at as well?

For current Forgotten Realms lore are there any recommendations for sites to read for more information to help with adventure preparation?

Grand Lodge

It's hard to say. I was a local coordinator for all of a month, and had access to the expeditions to prep, but as just a DM, he should talk to one of the local coordinators in his area to get a copy of the adventure that he will be running well in advance, so that he can prepare his game.

Other than that he should check out the Adventurers League FB group if he has any questions. It is a closed group so he would have to request to join, but they are really good about answering questions, and he can check the Adventurers League FAQ here.
