There is a small potential "loop hole" where an unchained rogue could get rogue talents they aren't supposed to.

Pathfinder Society

I posted in the rules forum about it but seeing as it's such a small problem most just said people in home games would easily just be like no it doesn't work like that. However since PFS goes by RAW and the FAQs it was suggested to bring it up here.

The unchained rogue has access to ninja tricks, one of which is rogue talent, which reads:

The ninja can select a rogue talent in place of a ninja trick. The ninja cannot select a rogue talent that has the same name as a ninja trick. The ninja can select this talent multiple times.

Since the book was made before unchained it says nothing about it which list it can be from. So I feel it could easily be twisted around and someone would try to get a rogue talent that they normally wouldn't be able to get.

I feel an easy fix is to simply state this is a ninja trick they can't take.

Just thought it was something to take note of.

It's unlikely PFS will make a ruling specific to this unless it actually does start to get abused. It's a rules question, and that was the correct forum for it. People over there like to push things they think are too small or easily house ruled over here, but PFS generally does not make rulings on rules questions.

I'm not sure how big of a loophole this is. Even if it works, Ki Pool is about the only thing I can think of worth taking, and even that isn't great. But, I'd expect huge table variation. The Rogue Talent: Ninja Trick also includes language about not being able to take a ninja trick with the same name as a rogue talent. Since "Rogue Talent" is the name of the ninja trick, and Unchained Rogue contains a class feature called "Rogue Talent," I'd say that's grounds enough not to allow it.

It's an interesting idea. I just don't ever think it will be big enough of a problem to be addressed in any official capacity, or that it needs to be. There are many more pressing questions out there.

The trick doesn't say they're limited to, but PFS rules do. They're still limited to the rogue talents in PFU and the sidebar. If they had changed the name to rogue tricks, then there would be a loophole for them to take rogue talents from another source. But the Unchained Rogue in PFS specifically can only take Rogue Talents from PFU or those listed in the sidebar. No loop hole.

EDIT: Just realized that was mentioned in the blog, but Additional Resources doesn't list it. I'll see that it gets corrected.

Cool beans. At least I helped fix that. :)
