How much for the locks (no bagel)?

Kingmaker

I'm toying with ways to create headaches for my players, and I've hit on an idea (expressed in other threads) about the river that runs from Restov down to the lake. For the most part, that river has rapids that make it not that great as a trade route (At work, I don't have the river's name). My players have now claimed most of that river ... and it would be a great trade route if somebody builds locks along it.

My idea is that somebody from Restov -- probably one of the Swordlords -- will offer to invest in the locks if my players would cough up half. So, what might be good investment and rewards? What should the locks cost, and what should the Economy bonus be if they are completed?

In mine campaign I used indigoreeds's Count Addar Arnovski during the initial "A deal with the devil" encounter at Restov.

Maybe you could use hin in your campaign too.

About the Kingdom bonus, I simply counted each lock both as a Resource (+1 Eco) and a Landmark (+1 Loy)

In our game locks/boatlifts/portages (whatever is needed) cost the same as bridges do, the same as Roading the hex.

This only provides a by-pass for a single falls, cascades, or cataract in a river.

The only benefit is it allows you to count that river hex as part of any trade route, & the number of river hexes/4 benefit.

EDIT: We've also standardized the use of keelboats on the Thorn River to simplify transport.
