I know this may be in the wrong area. If it is, feel free to move it.

I need some advice on how to read books without
Wrecking them. Here's my situation: about 60%of my reading time is in bed, while my fiancé is asleep or trying to sleep. She is very light sensitive when trying to sleep, so even the light from an iPad keeps her up.

For novels, I'm able to use a book light to read from, but that is because novels are thick enough to that the pages can support the weight of the light. Using a book light on player companions or early modules causes the cover to bend, and could damage the book.

Does anyone know if there are magazine specific book lights, of specific company I should look into to prevent this damage?

A Google search for "magazine book light" brought up this

Has she tried a sleep mask? I used one when I had to sleep during the day.

Yeah, I looked at that and a few others, the amazon reviews that mention magazines all say it was too top heavy and bent the covers. I think I may have to try one of the over the ear or around the neck ones.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

We used to have a headlamp on an elastic band; I believe it was sold as a hands-free flashlight. The good thing was it had not only the normal white light but a red light; in my experience, it allowed one of us to read while not disturbing the other person in bed, due to the color.

EDIT: Something like this.
