@Nebten

So grab now as many as you can...

I knew that would be your thought MyFly :)

I don't usually use my hobby to speculate for $. But in this case you may well be right. I think the secondary market for these in a year or so will be lucrative

( the only time I have ever done so was backing the Fireteam zero kickstarter at Warchest level an extra time so I could sell off one set

The reason I did so was that I had gotten to play test the system and realized it was rather awesome)

That's gutting that Lem is still far in the distance :(

If you buy all recent sets available and I mean ALL copies, then Lem will turn up sooner than you could imagine... Believe me...

Open your vault in Gringotts and grab them @LL

Valeros from the Iconic heroes set #1 is alone already 17 USD in Germany.

Just ridiculous.

We don't doubt it, Myfly. It's that you might as well purchase the whole thing than spend the money on a single figure.

Being offered at a price and selling at that price are not the same thing. I've seen plenty of out-of-print game books get listed for hundreds of dollars by people (or, likely, their automated listing software) on eBay and Amazon. Look at the actual purchases, though, and they're going for less than $100.

I can't say for Germany, but here in the US Iconic Heroes Valeros+Tankard card actually sell on eBay for about $7.50. (Price includes shipping.)

Just for fun, can we stop trying to figure out how to make money off the Pathfinder Adventure Card Game and accessories and actually just talk about the game?

Honestly, I don't like wincing every time I see a Myfly thread on here wondering what the next "This will be profit for Paizo" scheme or "You can make a lot of money on eBay by selling <stuff>" scheme.

This said, the best news of the day concerning minis to play PACG was that Reaper's Bones III Kickstarter will include Reiko, Crowe, Quinn, Oloch, the Brother of the Seal, and others to come.
I'm a full big addict of Wizkids minis (yes it's written above my nice dwarven portrait), but Reaper is quite in advance in producing less-iconic characters for PACG...

Grand Lodge

Agreed but we still have to paint those and, honestly, the detailing on these mini are superior to some of the detailing I would do. (Some of the patterning on clothing is great.) And it is far better than the prior releases of the same figures. (Check Kyra, Ezren and Seoni from the original box set to the newer ones.)

That's about the only thing I like about their paintjobs, the patterns. And that I don't have to do them.

But I have yet to see one that wouldn't benefit from a wash at the very least.

Still, they're good enough for my DnD group, in which I am the only painter, and I love the cards, so it's all moot.

Speaking of which, this is my solution to the Iconics Set Lem issue. I picked up a couple Reaper Bones Lem for about $5 total from my FLGS, and they work with PACG well. The sculpt is decent, they are easy to paint, and cheap to boot.

The details on that Lem are horrible along with the painting.

I'd only recommend that one if there wasn't any other option. It doesn't look much like Lem.

Right NOW,

You dont have any other prepainted option, or do you?

Grand Lodge

Honestly, I have a white Bones mini for Lem rather than buy the older one. So do I have a prepainted option? No. Do I prefer the prepainted option to the unpainted one? No.

Sovereign Court

Prepainted doesn't automatically make it better MyFly. It's a benefit over the Bones mini, but everything else leans towards the Bones, and for many (including myself and my dwarven friend above me) outweigh having a painted mini without doing it ourselves.

I wish I had the ability to paint these well. I bought every Bones iconic available recently, and am very excited to get more from the Kickstarter!

When you go to a paint shop, they will ask about 25 USD per miniature for a excellent paint job.

Sovereign Court

Although that doesn't change my point in the slightest -- holy crap, are you serious?

Grand Lodge

Yeah, 25 USD per figure is pretty good. (For decent details, base enhanced with texture and sealed. I'd pay a lil extra for shadowing and lighting.)

I wish I had the time to paint again.

Andrew L Klein wrote:

Paint jobs are actually very cheap, even though they sound expensive. There is a gentleman at my FLGS that makes his living off of painting other people's figures, and he's helped me to understand this. You see, it takes quite a while to paint a model properly. A good paintjob, like the kind you typically pay for on an individual model, takes several hours. So lets say it takes the painter 4 hours to prime, basecoat, wash, highlight, and seal (the 5 basic steps to a decent paintjob). That's not even including basing, btw. If he charges you 25 dollars, then he's working on less than minimum wages ($6.25 an hour).

Bones 3 Kickstarter
Offers 5 new oficially licensed Pathfinder miniatures to paint.

One of them is Oloch... Anybody recognizes the other four???

Its a quiz how good you know the iconics...

This was answered in a thread on BGG.

Crowe, Reiko, Quinn, Kess, Oloch.

Thanks!

Grand Lodge

Sadly, the figures of Kess and Quinn don't do the characters justice. And Crowe is a little off. Oloch is pretty much spot on.

Dark Archive

That's actually not Kess, that's the Brother of the Seal. If you look at the update on their Kickstarter (it's update #22), it tells you who they all are. The other four were guessed correctly though!

Was there something to guess? Bones are mostly recasts of existing miniatures already available in metal.

$25 is pretty nice for a custom paint job. Getting to customize colors and such can be well worth the price. I don't paint, so I normally have a generic prepainted plastic mini, but I did buy metal ones with good paint jobs for a couple of my campaign characters.

The Exchange

It would be super cool if Paizo could start working with Reaper to get minis ready for all of the secondary characters in the class decks that aren't destined to become prepainted minis.

I would love to see representations of all of them as I am looking at painting a mini of each one for when I run demos/start new players in organized play. Zarlova, I am looking at you!

The iconic heroes line DOES cover all BASE+CHaRAcTEr ADDON Deck characters EVER released, right?
So only in the class decks there are characters which are not covered?

Ranzak and Ekkie aren't in the iconic heroes line.

So unfair.

As the one representing the French side of Golarion I call for an immediate global strike until we have full recognition of the gobs iconics status, their inclusion in the heroes line, the immediate delivery of all past and future cards to my door, Myfly for President of Greece so we know we will keep on asking for more forever and fries with that.

Ranzak and Ekkie aren't in the iconic heroes line.

Both are neither in the base set nor in the character addon deck!

So this will be some rule for the next PACG path designs, only to use Iconic heroes line characters for base set and character addon deck... Cool!

This will motivate more players to buy the miniature sets... Guaranteed future use in every path!

In case anyone missed it, Iconics set 4 was featured in the Paizo Blog and shows digitals of Lirianne, Jirelle, and Hakon

Having just completed S&S as Jirelle, was disappointed she was not already available

According to multiple people in another thread here, it's already been officially confirmed that Mummy's Mask will have at least one non-iconic character in the base set and / or character add-on.

It may not be guaranteed, but the non-iconic card game characters from future base sets and/or add-ons do seem like good candidates to fill in the holes in the Heroes sets (those and the promo and class deck characters). By current count, there are 13 iconics left that haven't been in a Heroes box. Since there are typically five characters to a box, that will leave at least two slots open for non-iconic characters. "At least" because we currently also only have one companion character left that we're sure of, so that can potentially open up two more spots that need to be filled. Personally I think the goblin characters can be good "companion" characters, but that would continue to screw over Lem with the small-mini-problem.

Can someone tell me what's wrong with having 5-6 small/smaller minis in a set? I can understand spreading out the more popular iconics but not the sizes.

I'm assuming because small minis are smaller than medium minis. Having too many of them in a set and changing the same price as a set that has 5 medium minis can be seen as a loss of value for the consumer.

Hoping this isn't a dead thread... I just got set 4 and realized Hakon isn't in anything yet... But I have a card for him now... Does anyone know what happened here?

Silver Crusade

They designed some of the iconic hero cards before the characters appeared in the games.

We know a lot about what Hakon will be. We just haven't gotten him into print yet. Similarly Kess and Zadim.
