Still working on my new pc but almost ready. the concept is a pc that is a tracker and hunter who fights with a 2 handed blade. he also uses wild shape in certain combat situations but the sword is his main combat form. the wild shape is also used out of combat for tracking and stealth and other situations.
to create this class I'm looking into a Druid4/rangerX build with the feats shaping focus and shape shifting hunte. Or i'm going with the feral hunter.
What build would be better in 2 handed sword fighting? this considering bab, the available spells for buffing, and other things :-)

Ps This post is a question about comparing the two, ive had some other topics about things related to this question but not this specific question. If fighting with a sword and playing a feral hunter it druid is something you want to do maybe check my older topics :-) there were other clAss suggestions and stuff about feats, interresting :-)

The Feral Hunter is 3/4BAB and doesn't have spells or class features that substantially improve their effectiveness - Animal Focus doesn't stack with enhancement items, so it's only a handy secondary buff.
What you might want to consider both for theme and for function is the Wild Stalker Ranger. Instead of Favored Enemy (which is limited) and Two-Handed Combat Style Feats (which aren't necessary and don't help in Wild Shape), you get Rage, which is always very useful.

The feral hunter jeeps its spells as far as i know. He gets 6th lv druid spells opposed to lv 2 spells if you take 4 levels of druid.
What I meant to say was that the Druid spell list doesn't have anything like Divine Favor to give you an instant "you now melee like a full martial, enjoy" kind of upgrade.

Druid/ranger it is :-) thanks for taking the time to respond!
Next step choosing the race and archetypes. Ill start with your suggestions, havent read much about favorite class bonusses.
There is a trait which doubles the time in wildshape, i think its called beast of society, sounds Nice also but doesnt help in melee, have to think about it :-)
