Scenarios at Gen Con

I'm hoping next year Paizo will include previous season's scenarios in the lineup for Gen Con.

I'm assuming the reason past seasons are not on the list is due to the CORE game being ran as well; plus the previous seasons not being redone for CORE play.

Actually, it is because they are trying to promote the new season as Gen Con is it's "coming out party".

Part of the reasoning is that it is super hectic for the muster volunteers to muster multiple games at the same time.

There was one station last year that routinely had 10 different scenarios (I might be off one or two scenarios) each slot. That is too much.

Last year was a special year with being in the ballroom for the first time and there was more that was done. Things are pared back this year to make it easier on all the volunteers working to make sure you have a great con

Hmmm...I've been going to Gen Con since 2010, and every year so far they've had previous season scenarios. Besides, the new season always has only the first 3 at scenarios.

The first year in the Sagamore (2013), we had a retrospective with a lot of early season scenarios in addition to Season 5.

The scheduling and assignment of those scenarios is a major headache for the convention organizer, overflow tables are difficult to arrange GMs for at best, and there's a high chance of a missing GM making their tables not go off when 1 gm per slot is scheduled to run a specific scenario. In addition, a lot of the "retro" scenarios seemed to be in the "fail to fire" category.

The pattern you will likely continue to see is previous season + 3 premieres + evergreen tier 1-2.

Post-con play, non-official tables, etc are possible, especially Wednesday or Sunday evening.

I can't help you with GenCon, but...

If you have a chance to visit the SF Bay Area we have 3 large conventions a year, Feburary, Memorial Day and Labor Day (each with ~100+ PFS tables) and are really good about running a selection of both old and new scenarios

We've also been known to accept the occasional request from far travelling guests.

So come visit us and have your dreams come true.

I believe nogoodscallywag is talking about previous seasons to the current and last season. As Thea pointed out, that first year in the Sagamore Ballroom we had scenarios from every season represented.

I understand completely the reasoning for not having past season's scenarios. It just makes me sad! Especially when I GM at home and the only times I get to play is GenCon (my other players refuse to DM).

nogoodscallywag, by last year's scenarios... would you mean season 6 or season 5 for the Gen Con coming up? Because, there are a TON of season 6 scenarios being run. They always run a large number of the season we are just coming out of at Gen Con (from what I understand)

I know Mike blogged about this year's Gen Con events but I don't remember seeing the other season's not specifically removed.

Two years ago was Pathfinder's 5th anniversary and Paizo's 10th. The scenarios they chose for GenCon was a collection of seasonal favorites. That was the only year they've done more than the newest season and the previous season's scenarios. At the time they explained why they were doing throwback scenarios, but now everyone seems surprised when they don't see them every year.

If you're looking for specific scenarios, you might talk to Mark Stratton and see if he can't schedule them for Wednesday at Scottys.

This, and the fact that mustering 68 different scenarios every slot was not healthy for the HQ staff.
