So, I was new to Pathfinder a little over a year ago. I've only had 2 characters in the game, with one being short-lived.
This character I've had for OVER A YEAR is a cleric. Silly me thought that Paizo.com was a trustworthy source of information, because this ENTIRE time I have been using the spell list here:http://paizo.com/pathfinderRPG/prd/spellLists.html
Turns out, the Cleric Spell List on this page is missing quite a few important spells that I could have been using for the past year but haven't because this site failed to mention them. The website d20pfsrd.com was just introduced to me, and I'll be using that from now on thank you.
So yeah, never using this site for character info again.
Buh-bye.

The Pathfinder Reference Document only contains information that is in the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game line (the hardcovers, essentially), along with the Pathfinder Campaign Setting: Technology Guide. If you're looking for all of the spells for all of the books that we've released, then no, it does not contain that information. In addition, the page you linked is for the Core Rulebook only, as indicated on the menu on the left-hand side; a compiled Spell List index is here.
If you have any additional suggestions for improvements (or bugs that you've found), I'd love to hear about them in this thread.

Well then maybe it shouldn't be the first thing that pops up when you search for Pathfinder spell lists on Google if it's incomplete.

We don't really have much control over how Google wants to display it's search results, and I can understand how that would be misleading. However, we do indicate on our front page that the PRD does not contain all rules and content available. If you have any suggestions for how we can make it more obvious when navigating to individual pages, you can go ahead and post them in the thread Liz linked above.

Perhaps you should create a page that has all the spells/feats/talents/whatever without regard to where they came from. This would be very helpful to home players, since that would mean a single spot where one could look for an interesting spell to take at level five. This would also be very helpful for PFS players, since that would mean a single spot where one could look for an interesting spell to take at level five, along with information about what book/PDF one needs to buy to take it. And it would be helpful for Paizo as well, since it would mean a single spot where one could look for an interesting spell to take at level five, along with a mechanism for giving Paizo one's money.
I mean, blood money is a fantastic spell, but I'd never know that from the PRD. And even hostile juxtaposition is a good spell, but I'm not sure I'll make it all the way to Ultimate Combat in order to find it.

Orfamay, Archives of Nethys does exactly that.
I'm aware of that. I'm suggesting that it would be in Paizo's best interest to do that, unless they feel that supporting Archives of Nethys is more important than supporting Paizo. ("Goodness, one of our competitors had a brilliant idea! We better not copy them, since that might make our customers more happy and bring us more business, and we can't risk that!" That's why no one except Amazon has an online store, because it might end up being profitable.)
Especially since lots of people aren't aware of the existence of the Archives of Nethys.

Archives of Nethys is not a competitor for Paizo, it's a fan site. Why waste time and resources doing something that has already been done?

No reason, other than making your fans happy and selling more books.

Er, yes. If people don't know about the abilities, they're not necessarily going to want to buy the books that those abilities are in. As I wrote upthread, "I mean, blood money is a fantastic spell, but I'd never know that from the PRD. And even hostile juxtaposition is a good spell, but I'm not sure I'll make it all the way to Ultimate Combat in order to find it." In order to use those spells in PFS, I need to own the books, which means I need to buy the books from Paizo.
But before I buy the books, I need to know that the spells exist and which book they're in.

Look, the way Internet works, even if Paizo would set out to put resources aside and have a comprehensive database of entire open content, somebody would do it faster. This is because companies are slower than dedicated fans with surplus of free time. So in the end they would be looking at opening an open door. So what they did is put up a database which is limited to setting-neutral material (bonus points for people who don't give a damn about Golarion).

So why does Paizo need their own copy of AoN when they can just let people use that site and get the same effect?

Because people who are visiting Paizo.com know about Paizo.com, but probably don't know about AoN.

At the Writing for Paizo panel at PaizoCon, the team mentioned they were working on an internal database very similar to Archives of Nethys. However, they quickly found that creating the database from the ground up was taking longer than expected and eventually decided to scrap it. They figured why spend extra time and effort to do something that other people were already doing for the community as a whole.
