Help! I'm new to Pathfinder Society and need help with online play

Online Play

I've played pathfinder for a year or so now and would like to increase the amount of gaming i'm currently doing and need help figuring out how to play an online game as i've never played outside of my home group every once in a while at a comic shop.

Howdy!

Welcome to PFS Online.

Most online games these days are being played with the free browser based VTT called Roll20.net.

You can find a very high level overview of it here.

Most GMs are using Google Plus Hangouts for audio/video, so you will want to be familiar with that as well.

If you are already playing PFS you should have a legal PC already, so you will just need to make a digital version of your character sheet to share with GMs. You can use something like Myth-Weaver, or the use one of the various PDF versions of character sheets that are out there.

You will also want to scan your chronicle sheets so those can be shared as well.

If you do not have a legal PFS PC, you will want to read the Pathfinder Society Guide to Organized play first. ( PFS on Paizo.com )

You are not required to have a camera, but audio will be required for VTT games - so you will need a headset with a mic, or a built in mic on your PC and a set of headphones or earbuds (otherwise you will get annoying feedback during the game).

You can find games here on this forum as well as the active community over on the Pathfinder Society Online Collective.

If you are interested in asynchronous games, you can checkout the Play by Forum (aka Play by Post) group here on Paizo HERE, and they will be glad to help you get involved in that too, if you like.

It is almost 2 AM here, so I am sure I am missing lots right now... ;b

Please email us HERE if you have any questions or get stuck on anything and we will be glad to help you get going.

Best wishes,

Hey Kaleb welcome to PSOC.

It may seem like you're in over your head at first but give things a try and within one or two games you'll be comfortable with it.

R20 is amazing and, if you've ever wanted to try running a game online, you can get every bit as much out of it as you put into it.
