Double Bloodline Bloodrager with Variant Multiclass?! Game borked?

Advice

So while searching up options for a natural attack Tiefling Bloodrager tonight, I referred to my Unchained book to see if any variant multiclass options would be helpful for them. I came across an odd potential loophole with the sorcerer multiclass.

The Bloodrager's bloodline reads "If the bloodrager takes levels in another class that grants a bloodline, the bloodlines must be the same type, even if that means that the bloodline of one of the classes must change. Subject to GM discretion, the bloodrager can change his former bloodline to make them conform." This lead me to wonder, are the bloodline powers you'd receive from the multiclass bound by the same rules? I'd tend to think not, since by RAW you aren't taking levels in another class, you're simply gaining the benefits of another class.

So in theory, one could take the Abyssal bloodline from the Bloodrager class, then benefit from the powers from say, the Abberant or Orc Sorcerer bloodlines to gain the crazy reach or strength from each respectively.

I realize that RAI this probably doesn't work, but I thought the idea was cool enough to actually get some opinions on whether it works or not.

I wouldn't allow it, and I would hit you over the head with the Unchained rulebook for suggesting it.

It's rather funny, I'm usually the person in our group who never finds dumb, potentially game breaking nonsense :P

A few things, I think, disallow this even by raw.

First, under sorcerer VMC, it states:

Quote:
At 1st level, she must select a sorcerer bloodline. She treats her character level as her effective sorcerer level for all bloodline powers.

This means that you effectively do have sorcerer levels, which would conflict with the clause in bloodrager in a way. However, there's some room for argument that you're not "taking sorcerer levels".

The problem here is that sorcerer doesn't actually say "if you take levels in another class that grants a bloodline, it must be the same bloodline". But the fact that sorcerer was written before any other class that used bloodlines existed means that you can almost 100% be sure that it's intended to be a rule as well. Which would explicitely prevent your bloodrager bloodline from being different from your selected sorcerer vmc bloodline.

So yes, there is a very small window for argument that this works in RAW, however there is also a much larger window for argument that it does not work by RAW. And by RAI there is absolutely no question that it does not work.

I feel this is as good as any a thread to necro...my semi-sincere apologies... ;)

So what if I want to have a Naga bloodline bloodrager that is also a VTMC sorcerer with the Naga bloodline. That works?

You cannot abort to any action after attacking or performing a full phase action until the next segment.

I think Stranger is referring to my lame joke about only being partially sincere about apologizing for the thread necro.

And now that I explained their joke in response to my lame joke I'm sure it's all super hilarious for everyone ya!

So when the tears of laughter stop does anyone have an answer to my question? Thanks. :)

Seems like taking the same bloodline for both is what you are required to do.

Thanks.

So I get both different 1st level powers?

You paid for both, you get both.

Thanks for putting up with my pedantics! :)

Sorry wrong forum, this was for another game system. This is what happens when you have multiple tabs open.
