Summer Sale 2015?

Paizo General Discussion

Hi...Any word on if or when the 2015 summer sale will occur? If memory serves (it never does) it's usually in July?

Scarab Sages

I bought a lot of stuff in last year's Great Golem Sale. It was in September. That might be the sale you're referring to.

We don't tend to announce sales before they happen, because that tends to make people stop buying in anticipation that their products might end up being in the sale.

So... now it is mid November and still no Great Golem Sale 2015... any thoughts?

We are currently having a gaming accessories sale great for picking up holiday presents for friends and family who love gaming (or a little present for yourself)!

We can't say for sure that there will be a sale each year like the one you're referring to Messy. In hindsight, while we offer OUTRAGEOUS deals in them, they tend to create a ton of CS issues, destroy the warehouse, and create massive delays with shipping out orders (especially when there's a sub run combined with it). So while they generate a lot of sales, they also generate a ton of trouble and we're just not sure the one is worth the other.

Folks, I after chasing down some details I can now officially confirm we will not be doing a Great Golem Sale in 2015. This does not mean we won't have any other sales or discounts going on (we've currently got a gaming accessories sale sales active through December 6th) but we won't be doing the super-big, mega, customer service-webstore-warehouse-breaking Great Golem sale this year.

Makes sense. We like our Paizo staff to:

Keep producing awesome stuff.
Stay sane (well, mostly).
Have lives beyond the office (except that one guy, but he's just kind of like that).

Let me start off by saying that Pathfinder is the greatest RPG of all time. I just love it. And, I have looked forward the Great Golem sale since I dropped a few hundred dollars on the last one.

I can understand not having the sale if it impacts the bottom line as far as the revenue, but to say something like: “they tend to create a ton of CS issues, destroy the warehouse, and create massive delays with shipping out orders (especially when there's a sub run combined with it). So while they generate a lot of sales, they also generate a ton of trouble and we're just not sure the one is worth the other.” suggests a supply chain and workforce problem. If the problem is just that the sale is too successful, you have a wonderful problem that most companies would kill for.

Isn’t it possible to simply plan for the impacts you expect from such a sale? Temporary help, etc.?

I am an operations manager for Nike sales and we love problems like this. This would only encourage us to make the sale bigger !
