Packing of books within boxes

While you are stuck with using the abysmal green packing peanuts, please don't put books loose within the cardboard shipping boxes and then add peanuts. The peanuts disintegrate into millimetre sized fragments and get in between the pages of the books. This causes creases and means that I have to go through every page and try and dislodge the fragments which are held in place by considerable static cling.

Please, pack the books inside a white cardboard envelope inside the box like you used to.

Hello there,

Thanks for your feedback, I will be sure to pass this along to our warehouse staff. We are aware that the peanuts can cause frustration, but our warehouse does try to pack everything as best they can. I believe that the way the boxes are packed has a lot to do with which items and how many items are being shipped in a single box.

Please let me know if there are any further questions or concerns that you may have, and I'll be glad to assist as best I can.

Thanks!
Katina

Oh most awesome Customer Service, I second brocks notion - the green stuff can actually cause damage to more delicate products (such as the foldout map in the Freeport book that was part of my last order). Finding a way to keep that stuff at least out of the books ordered would indeed be a questworthy task.

Have a great weekend!

Just dropping back in to comment that 'as best they can' is putting the normal sized books into a cardboard sleeve so that they don't get damaged by the peanuts.

If that costs extra, fine —raise the cost of the packing and shipping. I'd be happy to pay for the cost of the cardboard sleeve so that I don't have to remove the fragments from inside the books. I had to hoover every book in a very large order not so long ago, and stop to unblock the hoover a number of times.

I'm really looking forward to you finding an alternative to the peanuts. It also worries me that the bits that I can't get out of the box are contaminating the recycling that I dispose of it in.

Hi Brock,

Thanks for your response. Our operations team is always looking into different options for shipping, as mentioned by our Chief Operations Officer in this related thread. For right now, we are stuck with the green peanuts, but will hopefully be able to find an alternative in the future.

In the meantime, I will talk to our warehouse and make sure that they are aware of the issue. I cannot guarantee that they will be able to put everything in separate envelopes, since I believe there are various reasons behind the reasons they pack things the way they do. If they have any further information that may be helpful, I'll be sure to report it back to you.

As always, I'd be glad to help with any further questions or concerns that you may have in the meantime.

Thanks!
Katina
