Fun with Dual Identity

There are tons of negative threads about dual identity and how it feels like baggage, so I decided that I wanted to make a thread where anyone who's come up with something cool that they could do with the Dual Identity mechanic can post it. Let's see how many we can come up with!

1) Super Hero; Bruce Wayne by day, Batman by night.
2) Demon Barber; Ordinary barber by day, mass murderer by night.
3) Sneaky Monsters; Civilian by day, kitsune/ghoul/succubus/vampire by night.
4) "Manifesting" Creatures; Neutral, inactivate monster by day, Chaotic Evil wraith by night.
5) Spies: James Bond by day, 007 by night.

Not sure if this is too close to super hero, but my build that I've done so far is a antiques dealer by day and a vigilante by night. Specifically an antiques dealer because he goes after grave robbers, and other people that acquire their antiques through less than reputable means.

Sort of superheroish, if your average super hero only cared about a very narrow brand of criminal.

Personally, I can see a lot of potential for NPC's. Much more limited for PC's.

The Exchange

I could see a player similar to Zarta Dralneen (but less open) manipulating people by day, summoning demons by night.

What level does a Vigilante need to be to summon demons? :p

Sovereign Court

I was trying to find a class to mix with Grenadier Alchemist to make a character inspired by Arrow from the TV show (i'm not really a comic book reader but i do enjoy the show).

I think the Stalker Vigilante could be very nice to represent this idea.

Using alchemist's fire/acid arrows (or whatever else i need) and attacking unsuspecting criminals with Hidden Strike - then back to my trading company where i'm a lovable but mostly useless rich guy!

My brawler, An architect by day, underground fight club by night.

When the vigilante can cast lesser planar binding.

So that would be level 14+ then.

Alexander Augunas, your #4 isn't possible as you can only go 1 step in alignment.

The "feels like baggage" is because of the massive time change between forms. 50 rounds is a LONG time to expect a monster/villain to wait for the hero to pop out.

I've got plenty of cool ideas for dual identities, like a 1/2ling at light and a 'human' child by day. It's a shame the actual mechanic get in the way of it working out.

Don't worry. At level 16 you can start playing with 12HD outsiders.

Of course, this is 1 level before the wizard gets Gate, and all the full casters have greater planar binding/ally.

But to be fair, high level play is broken like that. 9th level casters>>>>>everything else

Yeah, a full caster has 18 HD by then. I'm just...underwhelmed.

Well, you can just summon demons with summon monster....

Don't forget the vigilantes that occurred before Batman.

Zorro.

The Scarlet Pimpernel.

The secret identity in order to fight against the order while living inside is well established.

Someone forgot the first rule about fight club.

Mine would be street sweeper by day, holy zealot bringing the hurt down on the wicked by night.
