How about Fasolasuchus, Saurosuchus, Postasuchus, Lotosaurus & Arizonasaurus. All rauisuchid members

So something else to check out- its a concept art group on Facebook called Brainstorm. Their challenge this month is Jurassic World, so lots of hybrid/mutant dino art to browse, plus a couple 'normal' ones too.

Brainstorm.

I hadn't checked this for a while, because I thought the thread had died after my last post. But don't worry, I'm still on the case.

Just last week I was in the Brussels museum of natural history, looking at those amazing iguanodon fossils (for those not in the know: they have a display of eight huge, and nearly complete iguanodon skeletons all of which were found in the same coal mine in Bernissart), and getting some new ideas.

Good to see there are more suggestions.

What would you guys think about giving stats to the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs?

Thank you.

And that Brainstorm page is amazing! I will be following them now. The creations that came from Jurassic World month were fantastic.

By the way Triumbrosaurus is my alias. I feel like it gets ignored more than it should because people might not recognize it as the OP. I probably shouldn't have started using it half-way through, but I wanted a topic appropriate alias.

Dino sized lead golems?

They might have gained sentience and become angry about being abandoned.
A deserted rich person's playground would make a good adventure site. They came there to find the route to the lost world. The designer went there and then built the place to drum up support for more expeditions.

I'm thinking inaccurate historical reconstructions of the animals as actual creatures.

Also they are concrete, not lead.

Ooh! That japanese thing where an item exists for a hundred years and becomes a kami or something?

One was lead coated with steel. Some were concrete with a steel girder framework. The article didn't have an actual construction breakdown.

I was tired when I posted and got it out of order.

Has Pathfinder done versions of the clawfoot, fastieth, and glidewing yet?

And Jurassic Park started playing on my Pandora feed while writing this.

No I'm just talking about fictional dinosaurs designed after the inaccurate but kind of cool in a cheesy way ideas that people had of iguanodon, megalosaurus, ichthyosaurus etc in victorian times.

Vutava wrote:

Aren't those just Raptors, Orni-/Struthio-/Gallimimus and Pteranodons with different names?

Eberron explicitly explains what all those dinosaurs are in real life, so someone should go check their Campaign Setting book.

Velociraptor, Leaellynasaura, and Pteranodon, specifically.

Any love for Dryptosaurus (fka Laelaps, I believe)?

That one's totally in! Thanks for pointing it out.

I know someone mentioned Sleestak, and I though "Pathfinder HAS Sleestak.... they're called 'The Trogodytes of the Darklands' Orv.". rofl, I'm joking.

As for ideal dinos and such...

I'd want:

-Orthocone (prehistoric cephalopod with a heavy shell and poor eyesight)
-Andrewsarchus (biggest mammalian land predator)
-Therizinosaurus
-Hyneria (LARGE prehistoric fish that can CRAWL ONTO LAND!)
-Deinotherium (A giraffe-sized elephant with prominent tusks that grow from the chin)
-... Quetzalcoatlus (why not?)?

He was totally off my radar until about a month ago, when the family and I saw him at Field Station Dinosaur. He won me over there. :-)

Deinotherium

If you're going by that standard, Quetzalcoatlus also had a statblock in an AP.

I don't know, if the Community Use License allows it, i might copy-paste the appropriate beasties from those. Including the Dunkleosteus that has been posted on the thread earlier.

I would love to see a Therizinosaurus. Nothing like a giant herbivore with greatswords for fingers.

Allow me to give a little spoiler then :)

Spoiler:
Massive Claws (Ex)
The Therizinosaurus’s oversized blade-like claws gain 1.5x the Therizinosaurus’s STR modifier to their damage and +3 damage per increment from power attack.

And one more because the first one is a little too little.

Spoiler:
Melee 2 claws +16 (3d6+12/19-20,x2)
BAB +9
Feats [...] Power Attack, [...]

These are the remaining items on my list on which I'm not yet fully decided whether to put them in or leave them out. Any votes?

Hmm...intriguing...

Dinosaurs

Crylophosaurus Large sized
Lambeosaurus Huge sized

Synapsids (Mammal-like Reptiles)

Gorgonopsid Medium to Huge sized
Cynognathus (I forgot how it's spelled) Medium sized
Dicynodonts (any kind) Tiny to Large sized

Other
Koolasuchus Large sized
Mastodonsaurus (crocodile like amphibian) Huge sized
Arthopleura Medium/Large sized
Crassigyrinus (prehistoric amphibian) Large sized

Mononykus (who wouldn't want a lil ornithimimid with only one claw on each hand as an animal companion? He'd poke people to death!)

Gastornis (because giant birds are awesome)

I know it's already been said, but Therizinosaurus is seriously the best dinosaur ever, and needs stats ASAP XD.

Giganotosaurus (He's like a Tyrannosaurus but bigger and more awesome.)

Anomalocaris (big armored sea predator with compound eyes and little tentacles that it grabs trilobites with)

I'll have to think of some others when I get home and look through my books.

That's a long list, Wannabe. A couple of them will be in there. I can obviously not make this many on my own, and there are also some dinos which would probably be very similar in behaviour and physique, those will be represented in a lit stat suggests stats of very similar existing dinosaurs.

I added a bunch of tiny and small dinosaurs to the list so there is some selection of prehistoric familiars.

I'm also considering a more up to date version of Spinosaurus

If you want to use mine in your PDF, go for it. Just credit me. I know I have Carnotaurus, Baryonyx, and Dilophosaurus for real dinos, plus the Ropen (dino-like cryptobeast) and Gigamurosaurus (big ice/fire-magic ceratopsian). I can see what else I have sitting around; I'm pretty sure I have one or two of them made up with animal companion stats.

I will have a look at them. For the mentioned real ones I have already written my own stats.

If you stat the Troodons, you can easily adjust them to be Silurians or Sleestax. They could be the ancestors of Lizardmen. Maybe a character is built as a throwback.

About Troodons..

Scientists liken Troodon's intelligence to that of a primitive possum. But yeah my troodon stats make them out to be pretty smart. They actually have two teamwork feats as bonus feats, which they can only use with other troodons. Which is why I also gave them a rule that a single troodon is a lower CR per animal than multiple.

And I was actually thinking about putting dinosauroids in there as a playable race. But i got no response to whether anyone would like to see playable races so I have not acted on it.

As for being ancestors of lizardfolk, no Lizardfolk are too reptilian, while troodons are pretty far down the road to modern birds.

Hello everyone, the project is not actually extinct!

I just wanted to give an update, here is the list of animals I have fully statted out now:

Spoiler:
Euparkeria F
Edaphosaurus
Kaprosuchus
Gorgonops
Amphicoelias Fragillimus
Argentinosaurus
Dilophosaurus
Cryolophosaurus
Baryonyx
Microraptor F
Utahraptor
Carcharodontosaurus
Carnotaurus
Psittacosaurus
Microceratus F
Protoceratops
Shantungosaurus
Megaraptor (the real megaraptor, not a giant deinonychus)
Oviraptor
Scutellosaurus F
Gasparinisaura F
Anchiornis F
Pegomastax F
Heterodontosaurus
Gigantoraptor
Pachyrhinosaurus
Ornithomimus
Dryptosaurus
Ornithocheirus
Typandactylus
Nyctosaurus F
Mosasaurus
Ichthyosaurus
Shonisaurus
Diplocaulus F
Deinotherium
Hyracotherium F

- Fictional dinosaurs:
Dilophovenator (smaller, poison spitting Dilophosaurus) Medium size
Voragoraptor (underdark deinonychus with blindsense) Medium size
Luminesicarius (bioluminescent deep sea fish like underdark theropod) Huge
Megaceratops (pachyrhinosaurus if its horn was actually sharp) Huge

Anything marked with an F is a familiar choice.

I also had stat blocks for Therizinosaurus, Troodon, Plesiosaurus, Trilobite and Cameroceras but removed them because Bestiary 5 beat me to it. I compared them and most of their ideas are very similar to mine (I even had an ability called vicious claws on therizinosaurus; and rather than the sweep attack my version had great cleave) right down to the CR they aimed for. So I removed my stat blocks. I kept Kaprosuchus because Paizo's version is very far removed from reality, being huge size, rather than medium sized, as mine is.

I was thinking about also adding a version of spinosaurus that is more up to current scientific consensus.

I just realized that several of my suggestions ended up in Bestiary 5.

Pathfinder Lost Omens, Rulebook Subscriber

Carnotaurus is my main desire.
Dilophosaurus is second.

I'm glad Troodon ended up in B5. I'm kind of sad that I'm the only one who wanted intelligent dinosaurs.

Any headway here? Here's a blurb about Cambrian organisms that concludes with a video about Hallucigenia!

I read that article a couple of weeks ago. The Burgess Shale is full of neat stuff.

You in the habit of reading Listverse? Does it strongly tend to crash like a byatch after only a few minutes for you, too?

There's certainly some worthwhile stuff on there, and their habit of composing "stuff that happened this week" listicles is damn-near a public service...but for some of the other stuff, one definitely wants a steady supply of salt-grains on hand at all times.

I've been a Listverse follower for years. I sometimes mine it for game ideas, depending on the subject. And yeah, keep a salt shaker on hand when you read some of it.

What platform are you using to view it? I'm on my PC and have never had a problem with it.

A laptop. I don't have quite the same problem with any other site.

That's odd. I've never had any problem with it at all. Maybe your laptop doesn't like the number 10?
