Question about an item that appears on a chronicle sheet for a module but not in any other book.

I thought this would be an appropriate forum to ask since the item far as I can tell only appears in the chronicle for PFS and not in any other book, and the module it appears in gives no details.

the item and the module:

It's the mask of fear from Masks of the Living God. It does not list an item slot, and the bonus appears to be untyped.

Is it supposed to take up an item slot (head?) and is the bonus supposed to be an enhancement bonus?

It's a head slot item. I can't confirm that at the moment. I do know that the type of bonus it provides should be declared within the description.

Scarab Sages

It doesn't even have an entry in the module... Only one PC has it listed in his gear, and no stats are given at the time. The picture of the NPC isn't wearing it either. This is a good catch FiddlersGreen. The only stats given for it are on the chronicle:

Mask of fear (2,500 gp; +5 bonus on Intimidate checks)

It does appear to be priced as a slotted +5 enhancement bonus to skill item.

Reverse-engineering this to the CRB guidelines (page 550) this should be a competence bonus and the item should take up a body slot.

i would go with head slot since it is a mask. and i would call it an enhancement, but you can expect table variation due to poor wording and pfs standard policy of RAW

... I don't know how you think you reverse engineered a mask to be a body slot but you definitely forgot to carry a 2 somewhere.

Head: circlets, crowns, hats, helms, and masks.

So it takes up the same slot as the jingasa and circlet of persuasion.

Its technically not a typed bonus, so it stacks with just about anything that isn't another mask of fear. (so no turning yourself into the thing on the back cover for a +80 bonus to intimidiate)

A very similar item, mostly for further "head slot" creedence:

item spoiler:
Mask of the Tiger’s Eye
This mundane item is worn by students, veterans, and teachers of the Tiger’s Eye form of martial arts in Jalmeray. The mask uses up the “head” slot for magical items when worn by a PC and provides the wearer with a +2 circumstance bonus to Intimidate checks. Cost: 55 gp.

No help for the "type" of bonus, but I'd probably rule the original item would be an untyped bonus (again, RAW and unique items on module Chron sheets)

I was going to mention this too. I have a Kitsune Calistrian Hunter that gets good mileage out of it.

Yes, that's right...:
she's a fox pretending to be a human pretending to be a tiger. Rawr!!!

One other problem with this item is that the name and other text is not italicized meaning that technically it is not even a magic item at all.

Though I do think it makes the most sense for it to count as a head slot item. While priced like a normal slot taking competence bonus item, no type is listed, and I treat it as such.
