What race has the highest GP value?

Pathfinder First Edition General Discussion

Just out of curiosity I was wondering which race’s racial traits would cost the most as magic items? For example Goggles of Night grant permanent 60ft dark vision cost 12,000gp, an item that grants 5 energy resistance would cost 8,000gp (according to a thread on the forums), a +2 skill bonus would cost 400gp thus an aasimar would have a value of 36,800gp + whatever a once per day character level adjusting daylight spell casting item would cost.

3 people marked this as a favorite.

Oh. Oh. I...I thought this was going to get dark. Cheliax dark.

But if you mean copying a race's base abilities, that is a lot less...that. Yes.

I suppose fetchlings might end up being the most expensive. Mostly because they get access to high level spells as SLAs after they get to the right level.

Shabti also seem interesting. They are a race made to take the place of nobles in the afterlife. They have the following traits- immortal, immune to undeath, resist level drain, and past life knowledge. No idea on the exact mechanics of those, since they are nontypical abilities...still immortality alone seems expensive to duplicate, even if it is just age related.

Aren't there some abilities that aren't available as items? For example, I know of no magic items that grant flight that works in an anti-magic zone, as can a strix. Similarly, the ability to cast spells off other classes lists seems unique to samsarans.

A while ago, I calculated the value of the human sorcerer's favored class bonus.

Unless other races can get the equivalent of two artifacts plus 72k, I think they win :)

I think there are. They are...PRETTY EVIL though.

Take a look at demon implants. Most of them should work in an antimagic zone.

But that's also available to Half-Elves and Half-Orcs so you've really just narrowed the field.

I think it might be simpler to restrict this to abilities that everyone gets, rather than just members of a specific class (and taking a specific class bonus).

I mean...sure, some abilities are better for specific classes (a darkness spell is better for people with sneak attack, for example). But just sticking to the abilities taht make a level 1 commoner different from a commoner of another race might be for the best.

Would anyone consider giving more gold to races that appear to have a lower 'gp value' or less to higher races?

Eh, they have that because of the humanness, so still counts :D
