Courageous FAQ

Do you think there'll be some sort of sellback for Barbs that had courageous now that it doesn't really help them?

This one.

Yeah, I'd like to know too. I have a bardbarian/dragon disciple 11 with Flagbearer and a banner of the ancient kings. :D

Since this is actually changing the text of the enhancement and not just clarifying how it works, the PFS team is inclined to let people with it sell back the item at full cost. Go for it.

Thank you!!!!

Why thank you!

Aha! This helps make some decisions about my rogue/barbarian and that rebuild into Unchained that I'll eventually do whenever we finally get an Eyes of the Ten table sorted out! Thanks.

So happy about that FAQ, words fail me and quoting my previous statements about the issue would be a waste of time.... there were some^^

Also nice stance on the sell back question.

Grand Lodge

Well, I am not happy about the FAQ, but I am happy with PFS allowing a full refund.

That's very accommodating.

Boy, am I glad I haven't yet played my morale bonus focused skald...

Grand Lodge 3/5

I would have to say I'm happy with both the FAQ and with the generous sell back option.

Very much so. Thank you for letting people buy that back.

Now that I checked, I actually had several chars with courageous weapons running around. Morale is one hell of a drug.

Wasn't this change somewhat along the lines of the Mysterious Stranger/Pistolero errata? Where the Designers basically said "yeah, we know, it's printed wrong. That's not what we meant, we'll update it in the future."

Pretty sure Sean said this at some point while he was with Paizo and Mark is on the record (before becoming employed with Paizo) about how this property was terribly designed and utterly underpriced if it did apply to all morale bonuses.

Anyway, I avoided it because I expected it to change. But I tend to browse most threads in the forums. Mike, thanks for giving those who aren't avid messageboard readers the chance to recoup their sunk costs because they didn't realize the risk was there.

That is why I believe it is generous of them to allow the sell back at full value. I kind of looked at it the same way as you did, but I'm still glad that they are allowing full value re-sell. I might not feel the same way though if I had to GM a bunch of tables where this was exploited.

Not really.

It was pretty obvious that pistol training was replacing gun training even without the tagline "this replaces gun training" (and that the dex dex thing didn't even work).

You could KINDA infer that the courageous property was too good to be true and did something with fear, but there's not enough vicodin in a house marathon to read it the same way as it came out.

Also, I believe that Mysterious stranger / Pistolero had several people from PFS leadership saying "We are waiting to get the clarification on this, but we are pretty sure which way it is going to go, and it's cheesy as hell, so if you go that route, there will be no free rebuild."

If I recall correctly, there was a free rebuild... granted when Mike called it out as "cheesy" and soon-to-be-fixed, not when the errata was actually released.

Basically, everyone who continued to do it after he said "you can do it, but you really shouldn't" didn't get the rebuild, and were told so in advance.
