What races would you like to see as official PC races in Pathfinder (not PFS, just Pathfinder).

Personally I would love to see a PC Satyr race (I absolutely love Satyrs), as well as a PC Lizardfolk Race (I love lizardfolk).

I would also love to see racial archetypes, feats, and alternate racial traits for those guys.

How about you all? What races would you like to see come to Pathfinder?

P.S. If there are any homebrew or third party publishing resources for PC Satyrs, please let me know. I already have the advanced races lizardfolk by Kobold Presss, so I am good on unofficial resources for Lizardfolk. I just need Satyr stuff.

P.S.S. I read somewhere that we might be getting PC Dark Folk and some PC race related to Sasquatches. However I can't remember where I saw this. Anyone know anything about this?

Bestiary 5 apparently has the playable Dark Folk, and maybe the Sasquatch.

Races I would like to see...
-A fey blooded race, like a fey version of Aasimar/tiefling.
-A giant blooded race(still medium size) that gets a trait(fire resistance, obscuring mist-1/day, etc.) based on what type of giant it's related too.
-A dragon blooded race, like a toned town half-dragon that you can make look like how want.
-A tauric race.
-More planetouched races for law, chaos, positive energy plane, kami, dimension of time, etc.
-Tiny size race more then likely fey(maybe an actual faerie)
-A playable ooze race that can take humanoid form.
-An aberration race that has a humanoid form.
-A playable corporeal undead race.
-A magical beast race.
-More fey, monstrous humanoid, and plant based races.
-A small size alien race that is from a high gravity world so it gets a +2Str +2Con -2Dex, DR2/-, acid/cold/elec./fire res 5, +1 natural armor.
-A snake lower bodied lamia like playable race.
-A humanoid race bread to hunt lycanthropes so it's natural attacks and any weapon it uses count as silver and is immune to lycanthropy.
-A crystal like race.
-A wolf based playable race.
-A small size squirrel based race with a climb speed.
-A turtle based race(+2Con +2Wis -2Dex, +2 natural armor).
-A rabbit based race(small or medium)
-More alien races in general with abilities like with tactile telekinesis(use highest mental stat as str score), x-ray vision, telekinesis, no breath, radiation immunity, shapeshifting, size alteration, etc.

I agree with the Tauric, Feyblooded, plant based, squirrel based (I love squirrels).

And while not a new race I would love more resources about Vanara, Svirfneblin and Grippli. I love those guys.

Urdefhan!

While I'm not particularly in love with squirrel-folk, I remember a decent fantasy version that had the squirrel-peeps descended from Ratatosk, the squirrel who runs up and down the trunk of the world-tree Ygdrassil.

Kinda fine with the races we have, but if there has to be more I'd like to see some bearfolk.

Were they infamous for spreading gossip?

Great topic! Might I suggest folks check out the Advanced Races Compendium from Kobold Press

This full color hardcover book contains many of the races as balanced, playable races wished for in this thread, including lamia (serpent lower half), dragon blooded, fey, corporeal undead, etc. !

The Exchange

For PC Satyrs.... I can't believe I'm about to suggest this and sound like a brony XD.... but Ponyfinder: Forgotten Gods of Everglow has a satyr-ish race. You can search it up in the paizo store. The publisher is Silver Games.

Shadow Lodge

Coyote based race. I'm not generally in favor of Muppets, but with the cool mythology attached to this critter is very cool.

Fey touched.

Eidolon descended plane touched.

Chaos and law plane touched.

Do you know lizardfolk are in the Advanced Race Guide as a Sample race of 8 RP?

-A couple more bird races such as hawk/falcon(medium) and humming bird(small)
-A medium size playable Cyclops-like race.
-A playable Minotaur race.
-A good-looking playable harpy-like race with wings for arms and talon feet.
-A race with a real third eye on there forehead.
-A lizard based race maybe a gecko or chameleon.
-A race that can create webs, doesn't have to be a spider.
-A few insect-like races, small and medium, maybe even a playable Thriae.
-A playable Frankenstein's monster-like race.
-A monstrous humanoid race that you can create with a list of monster traits such as horns, claws, webbed feet, wings, tail, etc.

The old Dvati race, or something akin. One soul in two bodies was kinda awesome. Sadly, I believe Hasbro has the copyright for them, even though they're technically a Paizo product.

Oooh! Thanks for the reminder! I meant to add that the above-mentioned Advanced Races Compendium also has a minotaur and insect race as well! :)

Don't suppose it's Herolab-supported? ^_^

Liberty's Edge

It will indded have HeroLab support!!! Check out the link for details!

Silver Crusade Contributor

Will do. Thank you! ^_^

Uh... what do I do there? It seems to be already finished...

I have been following and patiently awaiting the Advanced Race Compendium. I know minotaurs are in that but I am curious what Paizo would do with them.

I must have missed the Lizardfolk being in the ARG.

Also I think a Scarab based race would be pretty cool.

I could make up my own, and I have in many cases, but I want these races from Paizo. There is a chance that some of them will be seen one day. I can't say all of them will be but one can dream.

True enough! The Kickstarter just ended recently.

The book is due out by the end of the year - you will be able to preorder 3 or 4 months before it ships, so probably around July or August at koboldpress.com.

You'll also able to buy it right here through Paizo!

Personally, I find the simpler more fundamental fantasy races to be my favorite PC classes. When players are controlling these fantastic and exalted races, I feel like it takes away to the mystique of coming across similarly fantastic races while playing.

That being said, I like the insect race suggestion. It makes me think of the Nerubian's from Warcraft. And I was always surprised there wasn't a minotaur pc race.

I played a minotaur way back in 2ed DnD, it was so fun. I get the charging and goring can get OP pretty quick, but for me, it's worth the work :)

I think that these two would combine pretty well as a race and archetype. Whether constructs or undead, the "Stitched" could have an Alchemist archetype that replaces the Mutagen with a pool of Evolution Points to add on limbs and eventually even organs that produce special attacks.

I'd rather a Faun race than a Satyr race, just in case that's a distinction that needs to be made (Satyrs are males exclusively, whereas Fauns can be male and female; you wouldn't think something as trivial as a name would be a hindrance, but it sometimes is).

Also, some manner of felitaur race (Wemics, unless they're FR-specific, in which case (again), just use a different name. But preferably without the automatic assumption that these creatures must be savages, barely capable of civilized demeanor.

Silver Crusade Contributor

Racewise, Faun > Satyr all the way. ^_^

I always loved Catfolk. I'd like to see them as allowed races.

I'm assuming you mean "allowed as PFS races". I would agree, but I'd prefer greater emphasis on the Bestiary 3 version over the ARG version.

Can't believe no one's mentioned kender yet.

I do kinda wonder how they'd work with teamwork feats. I love the dvati.

There is currently a multiversal ban on transporting kender between planar boundaries, since they're considered to be an invasive species and once they infest a world, it is extremely difficult to get rid of them.

No no no.

Everyone LOVES Kender! They're so free spirited and silly! It's just so cute when they can't help but steal the fighter's healing potions so he bleeds out!

Agreed. My bad.

I'd like to see the hound archon. I vaguely remenber a picture of one back form 2nd ed. After not playing for ~20 years the PF bestiary reminded me of the picture. I wasn't able to stat it out miself, but I think it should make for a great paladin.

@ Everyone who suggested Fey-touched: Aren't those Gnomes?

Bestial/monstrous races that are nevertheless civilized and don't have Intelligence and/or Charisma penalties.

I'd like to see Half-Dwarves.
In some lore, these are gnomes, but not all.

These aren't new races, but I'd like to see Changelings and their mothers fleshed out a LOT more. They and their mothers have the potential for a fascinating backstory behind them, but it seems cut short by the way the descriptions were just thrown together: for them, not even matching their mothers' characteristics very well, and for their mothers, the original 3 (or 4) (and the Coven concept) being just imported from D&D 3.x with no updates (except for the stillborn Coven Hex and Accursed Sorcerer Bloodline), and then a bunch added in Bestiary 4(?) with no forethought into making them anything more than just new random monsters.

Well, gnomes have a lot of extra baggage when it comes to the fey stuff, at least in the Golarion Setting.

I've always preferred a dog based race to the near monopoly by cat and rat based races.

The nagaji should have a snake lower body not legs.

Lizard folk not tiny kobolds.

Some randomized messed-up aberration race.

A decently playable plant based race (I am Groot!).

A playable undead race of some type (I loved the emacipated undead from 3.x).

An insectoid race.

Crystaline(?). I don't remember if it was 3pp or what, but we once had a very slow moving race that had pretty high mental stats and con. Horrible dex. Could only take a single action every other round. Always counted as rolling a 1 on initiative. Things like that. It was pretty fun.

Any one that even brings up Kender at my table is liable to get a handful of dice thrown at him. Then the other PC's will kill it if the GM doesn't.

elemental races that aren't half humans, this one seems to never get brought up.

RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 16

I'd be happy to see anything new with a creative mechanic or lore. My biggest disappointment with ARG was that almost all of the races have been seen before in another book and anything new didn't have interesting twists.

This is why there are no kender paladins. It is a proven fact that kender increase the fatality rate of party members.

Medium Minotaur blooded PCs. A buffer Kobold like the Dragonwroughts of 3.5. Would also be nice if we did the Law and Chaos bloods. Counterparts to Tiefling and Asaimar

Sphinx-people.

Aquatic races like shark- and squid-persons, not some undine or wereshark that aren't even naturaly aquatic.

Stitched together undead, as mentioned above.

just changing their stats from -4 strength and what not to like +2 dex, +2 int, -2 str fixes most of their issues.

I can't wait to find out how many new races will be in B5. Hopefully it will be more then the two that were already mentioned. Maybe some of the things we want will make it in there. Though sometimes we get new races in other books and sometimes as a really nice surprise in books we didn't suspect would have any.

At the very least, Changeling race traits for Changelings descended from other types of Hag would make sense. Homebrew examples.
