Stampede Damage

Rules Questions

Quote:
A stampede occurs if three or more creatures with stampede make a trample attack while remaining adjacent to each other. While stampeding, the creatures can trample foes of their size or smaller, and the trample's save DC increases by +2.

Just wanted to clarify, the 3 creatures in a stampede are making 3 separate trample attempts, and deal damage 3 separate times with 3 separate saves?

Or is it just 1 save, and trample damage of 1 creature, but at a higher DC and the ability to trample larger creatures?

I'd do 3.

Each creature is making its own trample. Provided 3 creatures manage to individually pass through the same occupied space while remaining contiguously adjacent (such as all in a line), each should also get the bonus.
(Although the language can also be parsed to mean "adjacent to 'both'[at least 2] other creatures". I'm just not convinced that's what's intended.)
