Plunder Die & Ships in Wrath of the Righteous?

Rules Questions and Gameplay Discussion

I'm considering using some S&S characters in my Wrath run through. For character powers that refer to ships and plunder dies, are those useless? My initial guess is that you can still roll the plunder die in Wrath (ala Ranzak's "When you close a location, add a plunder card from the box to your hand.") but you cannot move via ships, or take structural damage, so Jirelle is less useful.

I think that is how I'd do it too. Though anything about stashing plunder would be useless too, since you have no where to stash it. But if it were something with plunder other than stashing, I'd roll on the plunder table as normal.

Jirelle's bigger issue will really be the Swashbuckling trait. That power was her bread and butter in my opinion. You could add some boons from S&S as well if you are going to play her.

Worth noting that the Ranzak promo pack included a plunder table and instructions on how to use it, because he was released before S&S and you could play him in RotR. I agree with Hawk about not being able to stash plunder, and without Swashbuckling or Ships Jirelle starts with virtually no powers.

My own fish-out-of-water story: Siwar the bard has proven to be quite a capable character in RotR, despite the fact that her power to use Diplomacy against a barrier with the Task or Skirmish trait has never once been used (I think the only barrier she can use it on is Ambush, and somehow she has never been ambushed).

The characters that come with an AP are tuned for that AP. Although the RotR characters are much more generic than the other two sets. The S&S are tuned for ships, pirates and swashbuckling. The WotR are more for fighting demons and dealing with corruption. Sadly, when you take characters that are more "in-tune" with a set like the S&S and WotR ones, you tend to lose their effectiveness in other sets.

So as far as the S&S character in WotR, I agree with Hawkmoon that anything dealing with ships and stashing plunder (other than in your hand) and structural damage is useless in WotR. Any powers that utilize ships is also useless. It would be the same if you're running WotR characters in S&S. Anything dealing with Corrupted traits would be useless. But at least there are a couple demons in S&S.
