I can't find the answer any were so im making a new thread

dose the dragon blood line stack with the Dragon Disciple do these level stack? for getting the dragon blood line powers

Sczarni

Unclear.

The Advanced Class Guide is being reprinted, and it is expected that quite a bit of content will be getting a rewrite.

By then we should know.

For now, talk to your GM. Or, if you do PFS, you're better off going with the more conservative interpretation (that they don't stack) until further notice.

man now that I know it's getting reprinted I should not have bought it crap...

Well, they don't do the reprint until they're basically sold out of the original prints. For what it's worth, you can get the list of errata that is made between the two for free digitally after it is reprinted.

I would suggest printing out the errata (after release) and just keeping it in your book.

Anyways, at this time no they do not stack. It is considered to be an oversight and will probably be corrected to allow for it in the reprint.

Sczarni

Claxon beat me by 11 seconds. Just print out a copy of the errata when it's released.

Due to the major misprint on the front cover, who knows? Maybe it'll be worth some money in the future.

The official word is "maybe, if your GM lets you".

Coincidentally this same question was just asked over in the PFS forum, HERE, in case you'd like to follow that thread as well.

You can't find answers because there isn't an answer! :D

Slightly off-topic, but interesting to me. A spell-specialist arcanist with the Bloodline Development exploit can basically get the full sorcerer bloodline by taking a level of dragon disciple without ever having to take a level of sorcerer.

DD does not give you the bloodline. If you don't have the bloodline then it gives you the powers of the draconic bloodline counting the DD as sorcerer for determining the powers. But you don't get a bloodline for bloodline development to work off of.

That one's a debatable point, since Dragon Disciple doesn't actually give the full bloodline so its interaction with Blood Development is... weird.

the other question to this is dose the bite attack gained from DD work with Bloodrage if you have the dragon blood line

At the moment, none of the Dragon Disciple's abilities that function as a part of the Draconic Sorcerer's bloodline powers work for a Draconic Bloodrager's bloodline powers.

Thus you won't gain a bite when you grow claws. However, you can get the breath weapon and wings since DD outright gives those to you and the only connection to the Bloodline is additional uses.

wow i knew this was an issue but wow now this far worse than i thought, i used to think the whole reason the bloodrager was made is to have a full BA character that would be perfect for a DD but now it seems as if the combo is only good if you dont want to use the blood rage that often...

Most GMs will work with you on how to set it up, but yes: it's a prestige class molded to be taken by a rather specific character, and it was molded as such long before the Bloodrager was conceived. The fact that it doesn't work well with Bloodragers is not a surprise.

I would never try this in PFS, but if you really want to run this character talk directly to your Venture Captain and see what his ruling is on how they work together.

Personally, I allow it in my home game, but in the absence of an official ruling, I wouldn't risk it for PFS.

I treat Dragon Disciple as having been written without the forethought that non-sorcerer characters may gain a draconic bloodline. I have a similar reading of the Taunt feat, which would by RAW not combine with the use of any effect of the form "when you use Intimidate to demoralize an opponent..."
Sometimes rules just get written without full thought toward forward-and-backward compatibility, so if these kinds of conflicts come up, I try to figure out what abuse the rule was trying to prevent, and abide by that, but otherwise allow reasonable flexibility there.

If rules are getting in the way of fun, it's time to change the rules, imo.

I have kind of a stupid question, and after some looking, I think this is the closest I'll get to answering it, even though it's a 3-year old post. My Character is PLD 3/BR 1/ Sorc 1/ DD 3 (BR and Sorc are both Draconic bloodlines) and worships Smiad to fit the draconic theme (Gold Dragon for both bloodlines to keep it kosher). Both DD and Sorc give the "Wings" power, but the DD wording sounds like a replacement effect for the Sorc version of wings (in core, there are other classes that are spontaneous arcane casters that. I really don't understand why a robe of arcane heritage doesn't give me wings at PLD 3, BR 1, Sorc 1, DD 4 +4 levels from the robe. Additionally, it seems extremely clunky that BR is worded such that it doesn't stack with sorcerer, despite the FAQ's stating that you need to take draconic bloodline for both classes. From everything that I've read over the past little while, it sounds like for Bloodline abilities it's a VC/GM call, but for wings I'm not really convinced by RAW that the DD wings doesn't act as a replacement effect for the Sorc wings. Sorry for the poor grammar, but I'd really appreciate some insight on this one.

Blood Rager bloodline abilities only take effect while in blood rage; corc abilities are always in effect (or have a certain number of uses per day). That, alone, is a great reason why they would not stack with each other. If that's not enough, then which progression and which limitations woudl you use? Could you just pick and choose? If you choose a BLood Rager version of an ability, would it still only work while blood raging, or would it work times per day, or always on? It is definitely clunkier to let them stack, for sure.

I'm not sure what PLD is, but Sorc 1 + DD 4 + 4 (from magic item) should be a bloodline level of 9th; Wings requires 15th, and the same calculation for BR applies, except it only requires 12th. If whatever PLD is stacks for bloodlines, then the BR bloodline would be at 12th and would get Wings (while blood raging).

However, the Wings ability of DD is pretty specific about what it does; it gives the Wings power of the bloodline (sorc or BR, whichever you have access to, presumably both, within the limits of each, if you have access to both) right away, and, when the character is high enough level that they get it normally, it enhances it instead.

Since this thread has been raised I will give it the true death. As of this FAQ the answer is yes.
