First Spoiler: Occult Bestiary

Wasn't that announced a while ago?

First I heard of it. It was mentioned in this little exchange at the Inside Occult Adventures seminar.

*question about occult monsters in the book*

Erik: We couldn't fit monsters in the book but we have the Occult Bestiary as a hardback this fall ... Which I am not sure it is announced yet.
Jason: I think we just did.

Announced in early march

I originally thought that it was going to be a softcover, not a hardcover, so the reminder is welcome regardless. =]

That is the 64 page soft cover campaign setting line, not the hardback RPG line.

Wait...so there is a 64 page softcover bestiary and and longer hardback version? That...seems odd???

unless the hardcover is just Bestiary 5 with a lot of occult critters?

Maybe the softcover are monsters specifically tailored to Golarion, while the hardcover is a larger occult bestiary of monsters that are allegedly setting-neutral.

Sounds interesting ether way. As long as the last hardcover book of year is some kind of bestiary, I will be happy.

Both of those links go to a $22 dollar book, so I am assuming it is a softcover. Most of the hardcover come in at around at least $40.

. Wraith.. That is exactly what they are discussing... That the softcover has a link but in dale mccoys second post Erik says there's a hardcover coming out too

Even though it says $22.99, the linked page does say it'll be a hardcover. With the Inner Sea Guide and Inner Sea Gods, there is precedent for a hardcover in the Campaign Setting line, but perhaps there'll be a pricing update closer to release?

Regardless, as someone who didn't get to go to PaizoCon, what's happening today? :O

That is my guess I mean I don't think they would have two books coming out with the same name.

Actually it says it is a softcover. You might be confused with the first line that talks about Occult Adventures. Later on it says "This must-have softcover guide presents more than 40..."

You are correct; I did skim past that line by mistake. >_<

My question about further developments at the Con still stands. :3

For the sake of clarity here, I was actually the one that uttered the Occult Bestiary "spoiler" at that seminar, and I was in fact referring to a book that had already been announced: Occult Bestiary, which will be harboring a lot of the creatures cut from Occult Adventures.

Erik and Jason just forgot the book had already been announced, thus the initial confusion...

Dammit Brandon, you are supposed to have them let us know what the new books are going to be before the banquet! :D

Liberty's Edge

I think I saw someone say they were planning to live-tweet the banquet. Anyone got a link, by any chance?

Do they have pics of the products?

Awesome Bestiary 5 with aliens, dream dragons, and flying monkeys.

Ultimate Intrigue, cool a skill based hardcover book.

Honestly surprised we are getting a new class so soon after Occult. Wonder when the playtest will start for that, and if its entirely new or an alternate like the Samurai and Ninja

Ultimate Intrigue though is a pretty obvious niche to target however...

Playtest will be ready in "the next few weeks".

Edit: Entirely new base class. Has 2 modes, so you can be "Lawful Neutral by day and Chaotic Neutral by night. Scant few other details.

New AP is Hell's Vengeance, Paizo's first evil campaign!

Edit: Annnd no other detais. More in a panel tomorrow.

That sounds interesting, Dr. Sword.

I hope that Hell's Vengeance AP is a joke, we just got a hell related AP like right before it.

Liberty's Edge

It's legit. I assume it follows the events of Hell's Rebels.

Huh. And now we may know why F. Wesley Schnieder's involvement in Hell's Rebels is relatively limited.

Neat.

Dark Archive

Really hope it is set elsewhere in Cheliax and seperate from hell's rebels

Not being a Cheliax fan...I am not particularly enamored of the concept

Gosh, if people don't like Hell's Vengeance, what are they going to do? It's not like there are a ton of other APs out there to run that might cover more enjoyable concepts for their group...

Yep, but two in a row is a bit off putting...an entire year of APs.

EDIT: Back to your regular scheduled thread...sorry about the slight derail

This is AMAZING, all the win in this thread.

I'm fine with the AP if the tweet is correct about it being for evil player characters.

Okay so we have...

Bestiary 5...which I am not surprised by and normally would be kind of 'meh' towards it but I will give Pazio credit in that their monster books have kept my attention unlike previous edition where I was done ( as IO think the writers were out of ideas at that point) so I looking forward to this.

Ultimate Intrigue is book I have been waiting for since 3.0. So...I can't wait for this. Is there going to be only 1 base class? Or did they only hint at one?

Hell's Vengeance...could be very cool...of course if it is a evil campaign than you do need the right GM and players.

Any other news about Player's Companions, Campaign setting books, or novels? Or any other announcements?

Also, if anybody didn't see, Aliens (Greys) are going to be in it. Also, a Wooden Colossus that transforms into a village and dream dragons.

Non-combat is honestly a pretty massive hole in Pathfinder's system; anything outside of initiative order is pretty bland in terms of the mechanics of how it's done. A book based on improving the social aspects of the game will make a good pair with Hell's Rebels.

2 people marked this as a favorite.

So what I'm hearing is that I can be Batman. Sweet

Scarab Sages

Social combst, verbal duelling! With Ultimate Intrigue and Occult Magic's psychic combat I may never have to draw a weapon again.

Vigilante sounds like a specialized rogue, honestly.

Hell's Vengeance sounds like a lot of fun, but whether or not it will sell well is a bit up in the air. I'm sure there are lots of GMs who absolutely balk at the idea of letting players indulge their less than good sides. I certainly hope it doesn't flop like Wrath of the Righteous did.

Ultimate Intrigue sounds like fun. Now people can finally do an urban intrigue game justice. Hell's Rebels, maybe? :D

1 person marked this as a favorite.

I wouldn't be surprised if Vigilante was an alternate class of paladin that made it less Good-y and more skill-y.
