Master of Hell

Advice

I want my next character to either rein as King of Hell or at least hold a high position in the infernal hierarchy. So I have a few questions.
1. How do I bind/summon a pit fiend? Greater Planar Binding says I can summon up to 18 HD of creatures, but a pit fiend has 20 HD. Would empower spell raise it to 27 HD?
2. Can I make my character become a half-fiend?
3. How do I get into contact with the rulers of the Pit?
4. Can I make permanent friends/alliances with creatures that I bind? With diplomacy or spells or something.
If you could answer any of these questions that would be great

Well can't fault you for a lack of ambition can we?

Now the best means is to send the Sending spell to:

Contact a Contract

That is the branch that helps mortals arrange contact with one of our number.

And don't let the imps give you any lip.

However we also tend to have regular contact with most GMs so feel free to simply ask your own.

As to becoming half-fiend. Well typically that takes a bit better planning in the parental department before you are born but generally we can still work something out.

As for the pit fiend...

Well look I get it, you are mortal and you are wowed by all the dazzle involved with them. But honestly it's just not worth it. I mean yeah spell like abilities at will, lots of strength, so on and so forth. However they are well... boring. It's like getting the VP from HR, yeah he can get stuff done but no imagination and little actual skill.

Thanks for the suggestions but I feel as though I must clarify a couple things. I already have some infernal taint running through my veins if that would help the half-fiend transformation. Also, though having a pit fiend servant is undeniably appealing, I would rather have a pit demon friend (if you could call it that) that I can call upon or assistance or council, as well as a man on the inside who could report the happenings of Hell

If you could answer any of these questions that would be great

1: Basically, you do not. You could, maybe, if you are super lucky, make a wish for a Pit Fiend servant. However, this is an incredibly BAD idea. Let them come swear loyalty to you once you have the power, do not try to jump start your career with a resentful nearly immortal being.

2: Lots of time in Hell may cause this to happen. Alternately, a very well worded wish may net you the same results. Either way, you open yourself to the Fiendish Weaknesses, weaknesses you can no longer exploit in your mortal form. Thus, I suggest you stay mortal for now (immortality is an option too).

3: Well, Contact other Plane to reach the lord and master, Asmodeus will get you the very very tippy top. Whether you want to disturb your lord and master as he is trying to relax by his pool of fire is up too you (expert advice, do not). Better way would be to submit petitions via Contract Devils.

4: Appropriate gifts and NOT binding them are your easiest paths to friendship. However, trying to muscle into their turf is going to sour their disposition towards you. If you want a small kingdom in the pit, first you want a VERY VERY LARGE kingdom on the material plane.

I don't suggest this but it could be spawn a better idea....

Dominate a pit fiend and then he could create a pit fiend for you. That's doubly dangerous but you try to convince the newly created pit fiend to be your servant. If he rejects then have the creator fight the created. Risky! But could work.

Also just be strong enough to crush the pit fiend and he will likely serve you instead of choosing death but be careful because he will betray you sometime. Any full caster with immunity to fire is very good at this. Made a theologian fire cleric and laughed at the pit fiend as he had almost nothing but physical attacks that could hurt me thx to gear and domain power.

Darn I forgot to mention... Look really closely at the diabloist prestige class. That will go a LONG way to helping you in all aspects to your desire as it boosts your negotiating and combat prowess.

Mythic lvls? It could possibly let you build a power base of Fiendish allies.

Asmodeus is the ruler of the Nine Hells, good luck usurping a god's power.

The best you might be able to do is serve him or one of the other archdevils directly.

1) Empower spell will not increase the hit dice limit of Greater Planar Binding. Empower spell only increases the effect of variable numeric effects, the HD limit isn't variable.

2) There are no actual rules for this. It is something you would have to work out with a GM.

3) Contacting deities is actually relatively straight forward with the use of various spells available. If not, you can also bind an intermediary to talk to people on your behalf.

4) Eh....unlikely. Devils don't like to be subservient to mortals. You would have to offer one hell of a good bargain.

1) You may not be able to use greater planar binding (as written) on a pit fiend, but you can use it on an immolation devil (CR 19) or a nemesis devil (CR 18). The blackfire adept (Paths of Prestige) allows the character to call an additional 2 HD of one (or up to three as levels are gained) type of evil outsider with planar ally/planar binding spells (which would get you up to 20 HD with greater planar binding).

2) Not likely. Unlike demons, there is no transformation ritual to become a devil. However, the character could negotiate an infernal contract to become a devilbound creature.

3) Various divination spells, diabolic churches/clergy, and planar travel (the riskiest).

4) To an extent, but only to the point of being a "good customer" by generously granting fair payment and sacrifices for their services and not demeaning them with frequent requests and/or tasks they find petty or distasteful. Remember, even the most powerful mortal is considered insignificant (at best) or foolishly flawed, if not just a pathetic dupe deserving only of an eternity of misery to "correct" their attitude and become a true member of the infernal hierarchy (once they die, become one of the damned, and are broken into a lemure after many torments).

1) Gate, the HD limit for a single creature is your caster level, so as long as you have a CL of 20 you could call a Pit Fiend.

2) If your DM is willing to convert material, 3.5 had the spell Nar Fiendbond that transformed the target into a half-fiend.

A level 20 Infernal bloodline Sorcerer gets you pretty close, especially if you start as a tiefling.

What do you want from the template?

3) Contact Other Plane or Commune, the second is easily had from an imp familiar

4) Well, you can bargain for long term service (through Planar Binding or an infernal contract) but devils don't particularly have "allies."

The best I could suggest is take Leadership, and select a devil cohort.

About serving the hierarchy of Hell...

I have made characters that were made and role played towards this end and what I found was that without mythic, and maybe even with it, the absolute best you could hope for would be either or right hand man of a strong Infernal duke or a weak infernal duke that will probably be killed by one of the stronger ones at some point. A mortal just can't have the strength to do more.

Most of the Infernal Dukes are about CR 25 intelligent creatures that have abilities that can kill you in one round. The D&D template and idea of. Prince of Hell doesn't convert into pathfinder because the premise remains that even the greatest of mortals can't challenge of the middle management of the gods. If you don't think that is the case look at how the infernal dukes grant 4 domain powers to their followers, they are lesser deities onto themselves.

On the mortal plane I'd say that you could become a baron/baroness and rule whole countries like Cheliax in the name of Hell. Every mortal with his narrow sightedness and short lifespan will try to kill you and your a puppet of hell rather a leader in it but to each his own.

My suggestion would be to dig through the lore and find a patron Infernal Duke to allow an arc to happen and develope. This would also explain why when you reach a desirable level of power you are not instantly killed by the others in line to take your spot (some protection from patron).

finally, what class are you going to be? Believe it or not some classes or archetypes lend themselves better to what you seek. It may not grant you the position or authority you want but you could take comfort in being the guy that those figures respected/feared.
