These monks are far too fixated on a single vision of personal perfection through physical perfection. While that is quite a laudable goal I am sure, and while as a devote follower of Nethys I appreciate what they are attempting to achieve, I submit that their focus makes them poor choices for a duty that would require them to be outward facing and open to new possibilities.
On the other hand, should you need a temporary custodian while we seek new hosts, I will humbly offer my services

Bartrag is the better candidate. He showed the presence of mind, and forethought, to save multiple innocents whilst he sought to defeat the servants of Rovagug. Bartrag showed a willingness to act whilst his fellows remained behind the monastery walls.
I grant that the enlightened Dhiara might be a suitable candidate, but having never met her I could not in good conscience recommend her.

While Bartrags actions were truly commendable, the sage we seek will have to guide people with knowledge and wisdom rather than engage in direct action. Granting Batrag the gem would either remove a stalwart hero from the field or expose an invaluable treasure to potential loss should one of his acts of heroism go awry.
