I'm a bit behind.

Great!

And now I'm naked! Or does this not follow the rules of FaWtL?

You're a rear end that's been hit in the past tense with a mouth based attack?
Oh man, turning that into a literalism was a stretch even by my low standards.

Question, though. What's the point of actually dating someone who isn't...you know...gonna do anything physical with you? Isn't that a friend? If you move in together, how is that different from a roommate?

Okay, "what's the point" isn't the right question, because intimate friendship is still awesome. How is it different I suppose is the question, if that isn't even really an intent in the distant future?

That's a really tricky question to answer.

The relationship and friendship is a lot closer and a lot more intimate, even without the sexual undertones, than almost any I've been involved in prior. It doesn't feel like a non-blood-sibling relationship like I have with my now-sister-in-law, or like the casual friendships I have with other people.

It helps that our friendship started online - over ten years ago now, when I was very early in college and she was in high school - and didn't become something romantically-inclined until just this year. We didn't even get to actually see each other until a little prior to that; she never posted a portrait of herself anywhere that I had access to, and none of the places I posted mine were sites where she was active until very recently. It's only when we started talking regularly on Skype that we both got up the courage (for lack of a better term) to use video cameras to speak in any way that resembled face-to-face.

So I guess the best answer I can give of "how is it different from a normal friendship" is really just that it's closer and more emotionally involved and connected than friendships I've had previously.

The poster at the top of every page is assumed to be naked.

Only in FAWTL, cap... for now. (Though I sometimes momentarily forget, myself, in other threads when I'm too post.)

For the record, FAWTL is a really long set of six threads started when someone complained that the Forums Are Way Too Long - so, of course, the Internet being what it is, that thread immediately was targeted with "longest thread ever!" attempts and, in so doing, became so long that it crashed the forums. We are now on the sixth thread of its kind. They used to use them to stress test Paizo. It's a pretty interesting history. You literally use it to talk about minor topics of interest (though not sports, religion, or politics), and have fun. It becomes a kind of community, in its own way as a result.

Curses!

Foiled again!

Maybe the person at the top of the page here should be dressed as a cowboy.

Oh, alright. Maybe not, then.

Spoiler:
That time when you made your wife cry over NPCs lost in a game...

I don't know whether to feel proud or bad... >.>

Proud. You brought life to fiction. You made it real. Only proud.

Cross-posting...

So, hey: anyone know a suitably "intense" sound that can also be used for a courtroom drama/heavy exposition with no actual combat?

The situation: the PC finds herself having to defend a psychic bond between a rhy-cat and a young man (not quite legal age, aka "15 and three months" out of sixteen) as not only not vile sorcery (it's not), but also not of evil intent (it's not), and natural (it is).

She must do this as a foreign diplomat - from Aldis - in a land of devoted theocratists who believe that it is vile sorcery, of evil intent, and unnatural (Jarzon).

Basically, intense, but not "action" or "violent" in tone.

Thanks!

If you really care...

Oh, uh, hopefully it would be something extendable and just able to be left "on" instead of having to repeatedly restart it (which kind of kills the mood for intense RP to have the GM fumbling around with either mouse or iDevice to hit the thing).

And and Chrono Trigger's The Trial is really good, but it doesn't quite have the "feel" of "make this diplomacy count or two countries could go to war, and/or one might be shredded by a civil war that kills many innocents" vibe...

Thanks!

And... delayed due to sidequest! Yep!

By the way, Orthos: thank you for infinite looper! Such an amazing site! So coooooooooool!

Actually your best bet on that one is to put them all in a Youtube playlist then make sure the playlist has Autoplay and Repeat All turned on. It should loop indefinitely barring Youtube getting a hiccup (which happens most often if there's an ad at the end of a video, it'll play the ad then get stuck rather than moving on to the next video).

Man! This is awesome!

"Get Orthos to solve all of my problems for me!" is a brilliant idea! Why didn't I have it sooner?!

Er, uh, I mean...

*ahem*

... MAN. I WONDER IF SOMEONE EVER MADE A PLAYLIST THAT WAS THIS TUNE, THIS SONG, THIS SONG, THIS OST, THIS TUNE, THIS TUNE, THIS TUNE, AND THIS TUNE ALL IN A ROW WITH AUTOPLAY AND REPEAT ALL TURNED ON. IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO DO THAT THING.

... SURE WOULD BE NICE IF SOMEONE DID EXACTLY THAT, WOULDN'T IT?

YEAH, THAT WOULD BE COOL.

I WONDER IF SOMEONE WILL?

*ahem*

Shut it! You'll ruin it!

Well now I'd need someone else to do that... >.>

I always suspected that favorites weren't a good indicator of the quality of a post, but I'm quite certain now. For examples, consider:
Detailed and thought-out post--1 favorite
Longer and even more thought-out and detailed post--0 favorites

Medium-short length posts that I actually put thought into--all 0 favorites.

On the other extreme, a one word post got eight favorites.

Well the problem is that Favorites mean a lot of different things to different people.

I myself use them both for "I agree with this" and "This amused/entertained me, keep up the good work". In either case, when I favorite something it's because I want to see more stuff like that - either because I agree with the points being made and the position being defended, or because I am entertained by the content of the post.

Some people simply use them as a flagging system for finding posts they want to come back to.

And who knows what TL uses to determine what to favorite and what to not ;)

It's a check list to let him know he's read the post in question.

:-D

Just kidding. Don't un-favorite all my posts, TL.

(Quick, how do I recover from this faux pas?)

"Macaroni and cheese is delicious."

I think I remember him saying that, once.

Yea, my purpose in favoriting a post changes depending on the mood I'm in.

Every time Tacticslion favorites a post he likes, an angel gets it's wings.

He doesn't favorite everything, I have plenty he doesn't favorite. His reasons are his own, the boards are a more positive place because of it.

Man, if only I had s dollar for every time a conversation about my favoriting habits came up. I'd have, like, five dollars!

My church had some folks just came back from a mission trip to Nicaragua with photos and videos from it. The "houses" these people lived in...I expected like thatch huts, similar to the ones we saw in Peru, but...they were literally plastic refuse roofs stretched over sticks, like, some awful homeless tents in just...mud. So, yeah...that's humbling.

So proud that my church doesn't just build pews and throw potluck dinners. A couple years ago we got money together to build rain barrels and wells in Uganda! SO...I'm gonna find out what I can do to help the next trip. :-)

AWESOME~! WELL DONE! :D

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Hey, I wasn't personally involved in this stuff this time around, except knowing my tithes and offerings went into this...and I think we put a little extra on one of the people leaving's gofundme account to finance their ticket...but yeah, it's kind of nice that my church is out there trying to live up to its name. ...but yeah, I want to do more for the next one.

I tried to join the Peace Corps, once.

Turns out you need to be in, or graduated from college to grasp the intricate complexities of digging wells and shit, guess every civilization in history must've been doing it wrong.

I decided then, I'd make the world a better place in my own way.

Still, way to go Thegreenleafgamer :-) and Tacticslion.

Wow, just discovered how unpleasant a community GamingDen is. Welp.
(To be fair, I might have just stumbled across folk who are particularly awful. But, uh, that's pretty much enough for me.)

Don't worry Tac, you should just stay here anyway.
We have Axechucks after all.

Also you have a whole thread devoted to you, how fancy.

Doubt anyone cares, but this one broken link in the middle of a series of working links bugs me.

Here is the actual link.

On a phone, I have less time/endurance to read lots of posts. Planning on going back to all your links (instead of just this one) to give them a read later. At some long. Maybe.

My four year old just made his first-ever requested Christmas present. He requested a video game. I am so incredibly proud. :D

Also: aaaaaaaarrrrrrgggg: why is it so hard to find more information on Aldea?! I've resorted to repainting a dungeon crawl from Eberron inside a teleporting volcano that is literally off the map... (though that is pretty cool, I've gotta admit...).

More accurately, the lair is stable, but you have to get their by passing through more than one well-hidden, still-functional shadow gate: ones that weren't corrupted by the Sorcerer kings. But "teleporting volcano" sounds cooler...

EDIT: more information

I've been Play by Posting up a storm. It's a world of difference when people actually post frequently. Apparently the two I cut my teeth on were weak.

Also, a radroach almost one-shotted a guy today! That just about made my day.

I am now up to 1775 favorite posts and 980 posts favorited by others!
Which will come first? 1800 favorites, or 1000 favorited by others?!?

That post helped with both!
