Eschew Material Modification

Homebrew and House Rules

I am toying with the idea of allowing Eschew Materials to remove the need for foci and divine foci that cost less than 1gp as well, but am wondering if others think this might cause problems with any spells.

The biggest issue that I can think of is that some spells with foci actually use the focus as part of the spell.

Are there any spells you think would be particularly problematic?

Is the Plane Shift tuning fork a component or focus? If the latter, maybe it.

It's a focus. Why might it cause a problem? To me, it seems that it's just there for flavor.

The tuning fork is a focus. And it's there because it makes some planes harder to access - if you can't get the ATTUNED tuning fork, you can't go there without using a spell like etherealness, astral projection, or wish.

Didn't know that, but after a quick google, it seems a number of posters suggest that the attuned tuning fork should have a cost >1gp so assuming that is the case, the requirement wouldn't be removed by the proposed modification to Eschew Materials.

That would also help the problem with the attuned forks being available in all spell component pouches (in potentially unlimited numbers).
