More than a dozen new and expanded PFPRG heroes: tieflings, gearforged, lizardfolk, aasimar, kobolds, and many more, in rich detail!

It's ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*cough* Gearforged are now modular, Dragonkin are unique and distinct from all other kinda-draconc races and can tank energy, just about everything is infinitely more awesome. */cough*

There's some really cool development on a couple races (though others, like derro, we mostly got right the first time and won't change mechanically).

It's a heck of a project, and I'm really happy to see the support for it in just the first couple hours!

I'm in. This one looks really nice. I can't wait to see how high it goes and how many races get unlocked with stretch goals.

I'd been eyeing the Advanced Races series but never got into it because I think Dragonkin and maybe Were-lions were the only ones I NEEDED (I was interested in gearfolk but didn't need due to another construct race product) and those had reviews that discouraged me. Its nice to know that those are built up but as much as I like hardcopy Kobold Press items wedding funds have killed most Pathfinder purchases for a few months. Sorry I can't make the kickstarter.

Thanks, Lord Mhoram, appreciate the support!

Malwing, I think a wedding is probably (probably!) more important than a game book, no matter how awesome. Congrats!

Agreed (on both the priority order AND the congrats! :)

And who knows, maybe someone will hook you up with some Advanced Races Compendium goodness as a wedding present ... !

I think it should be on bridal registries nationwide. Spring wedding, with variant PCs.

Maybe an aasimar ringbearer?

Do the hard copy pledge levels really have international shipping charges included in the price? As a resident of the Land Down Under, I need to know before I pledge.

How about anything Undead, for all us Vampire haters anything but the Damphir would be super lovely . . . All the ingame possibilities to turn undead is so very late-game .-.

@Lost Lich: The darakhul are a playable ghoul race - available from level 1 onwards!

And you can't spell "darakhul" without using a syllable that sounds like "cool"! ;)

The pledge levels are quoted without international shipping, but I believe Australia is a $10 shipping charge. Sort of ridiculously low international shipping.

Marc Radle is playing a part? That means this will be a quality product. Following KS with intent to back.

edit: AND EZG! Too gud.

Gutes Deutsch, mächtiger verlorener Leichnam - sogar ein korrekt verwendeter Umlaut! Nicht schlecht!

@Insain: I did something unique with each race I developed for this product and playtested each of the designs with my group - their favorites were the rules for gradual gearforgification...and kobolds...they can for example now run through traps without triggering them with the right feat... (Scaling, of course, so they can botch...)

That shipping to Oz sounds pretty good.

- I have concerns about the Lizardfolk - while the crunch in their AR PDF I found awesome, the lack of bio-cultural details was....huge. Have the races that kinda lost the flavor been....flavored? I know it's hard to keep flavor things setting-neutral, but flavoring physiological differentiation or life cycles or gender differences could go a long way...

Well I'm registered on Amazon so if it's on there before August I can put it up.

First Kickstarter Update: check out the awesome darakhul art!

So I'm already a backer. My only concern is that I already have many of the Advanced Races pdfs. I hope there's some enough new material to justify the cost. Though the Kobolds have treated me well in the past. So I'm not that worried.

I have most of the pdfs too but I LOVE Kobold stuff and I'm looking forward to the new races.

Mike

I too have most of the PDF's, but I prefer to have a print copy that I can read anywhere. Such as in bed, in the car, on a plane, etc.

Also, there will be lots of new art AND if we start hitting stretch goals, all new content! In fact, I know the author of one of the all new race chapters VERY well :)

It was an experiment. I'll be adding some flavor and lore elements to the lizardfolk, both some elements related to Veles-Sa in the Southlands setting, and some more setting-neutral lore that could be dropped in anywhere.

Great to hear!

And the darakhul art preview is awesome. Liking the Huginn art on the main page too...

I also love the darakhul and ravenfolk art!

Every single race in the book gets a new figure illustration just like that and they are all AWESOME!!!! :)

More than $14,000 in 2 days! Funding goal is in sight and then the stretch goals are revealed and the real fun starts :)

Please spread the word!

Well, at this stage, I'm in for the pdf at $25. That's pretty damn good shipping to Australia, but we'll have to see if I can scrape in another $40. Shame that the campaign ends three days before I'm almost guaranteed to afford it...

For those of us who don't use Midgard, how much of this book will be setting-neutral? I'm led to believe the majority will be valuable for someone like me, who loves to plunder and port over elements.

Liberty's Edge

This book will be very useful for folks that don't use the Midgard campaign setting actually!

Most of the text will be setting-neutral - in many, if not most cases, I think the Midgard-specific material will be in sidebars and the like.

Wolfgang or others much more involved in the text/content itself can confirm or deny this of course :)

+1

This weakened what was otherwise a pretty strong entry in the series. The lack of racial and setting-related fluff basically reduced this entry to a lizard-themed grab bag than a true Advanced Races entry.

Even though I have most (maybe all?) of the Advanced Races PDFs, I'll be backing this. I'm not sure if the following will be met by the kickstarter & stretch goals but here's what I'm hoping for:

1. Minotaurs & Dhampir
2. Hero Lab files
3. More Midgard seasoning - I realize that they want this to appeal to a wide audience but more Midgard is always better!

Understood on lizardfolk, and as mentioned above, it's something we'll address in the expanded version of Lizardfolk (including Southlands sidebar material).

Hero Lab files are very much part of the plan, though we need to fund the hardcover itself first.

Hey, the Escapist has done an article on the Advanced Races Compendium!

They seem a little confused about the launch date, but still nice to see the coverage.

Liberty's Edge

That is a bummer about their dates confusion, but the coverage is nice indeed. I wonder how hard it would be to shoot them an e-mail or something so they might correct that little bit of accidental misinformation?

Liberty's Edge

About two-thirds of the way to being funded within the first few days (remember, this is only a 20 day Kickstarter).

If you haven't already, please be sure to jump over and check out the Advanced Races Compendium Kickstarter!!!

If you've already backed, please help spread the word so the stretch goals can be revealed as soon as possible! :)

What did the Ultimate Showdown entail? For those of us not willing to tread over to Facebook...

Liberty's Edge

Alllllllllmost to the funding goal! Help spead the word so the stretch goals can start rolling out! :)

Have to say I'm REALLY liking the art previews I'm seeing! I never really thought much of playing a minotaur. Now after seeing the art, I'm really interested in playing a minotaur.

Kcinlive, we hope to share at least 2 more art previews before we wrap it all up.

(And yes, that minotaur is amazing.)

There is plenty on awesome art in this book. I'm actually really curious which pieces will be chosen for the remaining art previews (I don't think I could pick only a few - I love it all! :)

Since I signed on to this project, I have been impressed with the folk I've been blessed to work with. I can promise every project for the stretch goals will make you all very happy, and will feature a designer or developer with an instantly recognizable name. Maybe even some extra Superstar champions.

Tell your friends! And somebody with a little extra cheddar get your gaming group to back for the leather printed copy and the customized game run by Kobolds! Or Horsemen! Or both!

Seconding Steven - as someone who had the honor of working on this project, I can attest to the material's expanded and improved content!

I'm very much looking forward to seeing how this KS works out!

Liberty's Edge

More than 400 backers so far!

And, only about $1000 away from hitting that magical funding goal and then the stretch goals start to really roll out (including the Minotaur as a fully detailed player race ... and lots of other cool stuff yet to be announced!)

Please spread the word and consider backing - you'll be glad you did! :)
