Purple Man

I am thinking of making a Purple Man like villain for a campaign I am looking at writing. How would you stat and make a character like him in Pathfinder?

RPG Superstar 2008 Top 32

Fey or infernal sorcerer is probably a good start.

Sovereign Court

Purple man well if you want to go all way extreme about it, it's the classic build and even works with the fluff:

Kitsune Fey Sorcerer (The dc of your enchantment spell will be pretty ridiculous) , add spell focus and greater spell focus, to make your players cry, at level 15 take spell perfection with your favorite enchantment spell to double the DCs taking the saves to the stratosphere. Just be aware tho, the dc of the Kitsune fey sorcerer enchantment spells most of them which are save or suck, will be so high that your players will have more than 75% chance of failing a save in most cases. Unless you have paladins or divine caster with divine protection feat.

Maybe I'm being a party pooper but wasn't purple man just a normal albeit very evil human before getting stuck in Springtrap?

These are good ideas! The character really is evil.

Are we talking The Purple Man (real name Dr. Zebediah Killgrave) from Marvel Comics?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Yes, one and the same, Randarak.

Even Mesmero would be someone I would consider converting.

Assuming that you follow the sorcerer idea with fey blood, he could have discovered a tropical plant with a berry that ads to his enchantment spells DCs or increases his charisma. Mashes it and covers himself with it daily, hence the purple color to his skin.

Similar to the Purple Man's MO, in that the chemicals he was bathed with give him the pheromone control. Along with the feats Eltacolibre mentioned above, everything and anything you can add to make those spell save DCs insurmountable.

These are great ideas. How would one do Mesmero?

Liberty's Edge

Hm, maybe an Illusionist/Enchanter Wizard? Been a long time, but those do sound like they would fit the best?

Why the illusionist, tOPAZ?

I would think that Psion telepath would be a cool way of simulating the effects of purple man. I would even consider prestige-ing into Thrall Herder... That way you have that: TOTAL SLAVE TO ME! aspect.

That and you can flavor text PP as Purple Points and when you augment your powers you are putting more PURPLE into them!

I never thought that the thrall herder PRC but you are right.

We'll have to wait a couple months for the finished product, but I would consider the Mesmerist.

For Mesmero? That might be a good fit!

Gotta admit that I thought you meant the Purple Guy from Five Nights At Freddy's as well. Though seeing all the enchantments suggested clued me in.

Ya, the Purple Man is one of the most heinous villains in the Marvel Universe.

And will be played by David Tennant in the new Jessica Jones show! Which I am pretty excited about!

That is pretty interesting. I wonder how they will use him with his power. He did terrible things to her and Scott Lang.

I know! I don't know how I feel about the 10th Doctor being a psychic rapist... Purple Man- while a VERY cool villain using skeevy powers in their OBVIOUS sexualized manner- uggs me out! lol.

But I am interested in seeing what they do... Who knows, maybe he will be some sorta sympathetic broken figure (like they did with Kingpin).

I haven't seen any of the Daredevil series.

It was ok. I wasn't crazy about the portrayal of the Kingpin. They TOTALLY make him more relatable as a character, but mostly that is because the majority of my prior experience with KP is from the 90s Spiderman cartoon. That guy just seemed like a fat Lex Luthor and I wasn't really prepared for the crazy impulsiveness that they added to the mix.

Otherwise the show is pretty solid, and made me MORE excited for AKA Jessica Jones (not my favorite title, but idk how else you would go about it).

Who is playing Daredevil?

Charlie cox... The thing I most recognize him from is Stardust (Tristran Thorn)

Liberty's Edge

Ohh, sorry for the late reply, Elrawien, but from what I remember of Mesmero is the fact he liked to hypnotize people and create almost too real illusions, which makes me lean towards a wizard who favors those schools and sorts of magic above all else. Although, the mesmerist might fit the bill too, when that book comes out. Not sure it'd cover the illusions as well, but certainly the entrancing part.

He could also do psionic blasts from what I remember but I don't remember ever seeing him do so. I only read about that.

One of the Four Aces in the Wilds Card universe, the Envoy, had a similar power. Anyone standing in the same room would agree with whatever he said.

When he was brought forth to testify before the Un American Activities Committee, he was put in a sealed transparent box.
