When will the poll close, if I may ask?

Likely to close the poll after the weekend.

I voted for Minotaur on the Kobold site as they seem to be the most glaring omission of a Midgard "non-standard" race.

However, I have to say that I'd really like to see treatments for the other Midgard Campaign Setting "main races" as well. Midgard treatments of gnomes, halflings, elves, dwarves, and goblins would be welcome inclusions. It would also be good to see how they differ from Paizo's core treatment.

While I'd also like to see the various human ethnicities get their own Advanced Races treatment, I'm guessing that the regional "Player's Guide to the ..." are intended to cover that ground. Midgard's flavor is unique enough, though, that I'm always hungry for more and my campaigns will see the "Midgard core" races far more frequently than the more unusual ones.

I suspect, however, that the kickstarter is meant to be focused on more exotic races. I have to say, however, if there's one race on the list that I'm not really keen on seeing, it's Werebears. I've enjoyed many of the Advanced Races series, but Werelions just didn't do it for me mechanics-wise. The fluff-side seemed to be trying too hard to justify why werelions needed a racial role & write-up and I was left feeling that Catfolk would have been a better fit for the setting with fewer compromises being necessary. While I'm love to see a player-friendly method for handling lycanthropes, between Paizo's Blood of the Moon and the Werelion book, I'm starting to think they work best as NPCs.

In any case, I'm looking forward to the upcoming kickstarter! -Thanks

Minotaur are too dragonlance for me. I went for catfolks.

TROLLKIN! TROLLKIN! TROLLKIN!

-Ben.

Scarab Sages

Wouldn't mind seeing trollkin, though I voted for serpentfolk.

I went with Trollkin...they are mentioned with hardly any details in the Northlands books, are unique to Midgard, and I so far haven't seen even any artwork for how the race should look.

Liberty's Edge

Sahuagin! Sahuagin! :)

Now I want to vote for trollkin, too (I voted minotaur).

Dark Archive RPG Superstar Season 9 Top 32

This needs to be available on Hero Lab of course. :^ )

I voted. Did YOU?

Grippli should be detailed!

I'd be happy to contribute as well!

Scarab Sages RPG Superstar 2013

I see a lot of votes for grippli. I just never got them as a race.

But they do seem a popular choice. I like seeing all the choices for minotaurs, trollkin, sahuagin. All things you first think are antagonists for games and not playable characters.

Once the poll closes, we should all talk about our favorite books (not just the winner) and what they should include. That strikes me as a really fun conversation!

Changed that for you Steven. Diff'rent strokes… ;) But I agree, I've never been interested in the grippli...

I voted Trollkin, because a) I didn'tt see anything else I liked, and b) they are such an important part of the Midgard Adventure Raven's Call, but lack the detail needed to mesh in Midgard (or elsewhere).

I got a 404 when I tried to open the link. I don't know if that means it ended or what. But yeah, I think Minotaur should be included and revised because they had too many penalties in the Midgard Campaign Setting book.

Looks like the pugwampis found a portal into the Plane of Servers, and they broke the link. The updated page is here:

Unfortunately, they also switched out the poll for the one from the Monarch of the Monsters contest. :/ {shakes fist at web gremlins}

(I tried to comment on KP site, but got blocked by the zealous anti-spammer protection.)

Thanks for mentioning it! We do have a new site design, and so there's a couple quirks.

Should have this fixed shortly, I hope.

Well...I guess I meant the royal you....those races typically fill antagonistc roles. But it's not an unfair fix.

If asked to do a grippli book, I'd enthusiastically work to make frog people fun and interesting, but I am still surprised at their popularity.

Maybe we'll see some tongue monks and hope everyone who gets the book is over 12.

Tongue... Monks... I sort of want to google it, but fear for the consequences.

Also: poll is now the correct one, thanks Ambrosia Slaad.

'Cause Frog from Chrono Trigger was awesome.

Also, amphibians are under-represented amongst playable races. There is more support for lizard/reptilian races and avian folk, even plant people have more going for them.

Perhaps we can have geckoids as well with their climb anything ability, but only if they're soft spoken in that Attenboroughesque way popularized in those car insurance commercials.

I also want to see a mycoloid/fungus people.

I voted for Gnomes!

Liberty's Edge

It's ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pledged!

Also, are you still open to additional/new races for the stretch goals?

The Exchange Contributor; Publisher, Kobold Press; RPG Superstar Judge

Sure, we have some stretch goals totally decided and locked. There's a couple that are still up in the air, and that we might never reach.

But yes, suggestions are always welcome!
