Melee druid advice needed

Advice

Hi everyone,

I am starting to play in a level 8 campaign with a druid that's going to be a wildshape/melee druid.

Now the advice I am seeking is the following:
-Should I choose Menhir Savant or Saurian Shaman?
Since lvl 8 is when you get normally the huge forms already and can't advance beyond that in Dinosaur forms so is there any reason to pick Saurian Shaman unless I want to multiclass let's say into monk?
The elemental forms max at lvl 12 and I don't think this campaign will go further than lvl 12 so I couldn't access them on a Saurian Shaman.
But the summoning power is really good and the feat at lvl 9 is great since you can retrain power attack from level 1.
Any opinions?

-My stats and how should I distribute them alongside the racial +2 bonus. Stats are following: 18,18,14,14,13,11
I was thinking to put them like this:
Str:18
Dex:14
Con:14
Wis:18
Int:13
Cha:11
But where do I drop the +2?? I was thinking of constitution since then I get better hp for melee. But then again +2 to str gives more monstrous strength in animal forms.

-Item suggestions? Is wild armor worth it?

Thanks!

Menhir savant, because it's more fun to choose than being stuck with dino shapes imo.

Yes. But like I said above, you're going to miss out on other awesome stuff. So it's more about wether you want to be a dino-mancer or more of a versatile wild shape user.

Your stats already seem incredibly solid, I wouldn't worry about it too much. 20 STR is VERY deadly.

check out this and this ring is nice so you don't have to spend a feat on wild speech.

Yes. Get it on a stone plate armor as well, as armor penalties are not taken into account when you're wild shaped (because c'mon, you're going to be wildshaped 24/7 anyway right?).

Thank you very much!

Few questions: By not armor penalties being taken into account in wildshape, one doesn't lose speed either?

I think I should pick wild armor a bit later since it would eat 50% of my WBL for lvl 8 in the beginning. Would you agree?

What about other feats beyond 1:PA, 5:Natural spell, 7:Planar wild shape, 9:Powerful form?
That leaves lvl 1 and 3 feat slots open for human. Should one pick Con foc and augment summons or?

Thanks again for the help.

You cannot take power attack at level 1. If you want some summon support then spell focus and augment are not bad choices. Improved Initiative is a decent choice as well.

Ah right you are. BaB +1 requirement. Well in that case it's the lvl 3 feat of mine.
