Keeping a magic item not purchased?

Can you sell something to another PC in-game, do you track that on your chronicle sheet as items purchased/sold?

If I create an ioun torch or torch of continual flame, and another PC is willing to purchase it for more than I could sell it, is that legal?

If you use planar binding to bind a creature and that creature dies, do you get to keep anything they left behind? I understand you can't sell the stuff, but what if you just want to keep it?

What if you have an ioun torch and you cast "continual flame" on another piece of equipment, like a sword or shield. Does one of the items loose it's flame at the end of the scenario?

Let's see:

1. No, you can not sell items to other PC's
2. No, you can not sell items to other PC's
3. No, it gets turned over to the society like all other things you find and you get the set gold amount mentioned on the chronicle sheet.
4. No, because the ioun torch is not a continual flame even if it's based on that spell.

Tiny exception on answer number 2: you're allowed to cast the continual flame spell for another player if that player provides the material component (50 gp worth of ruby dust).

ive never understood the point of wasting the 50 gold on the continual flame when your wayfinder something you will buy anyway serves the same function

Not all of my characters have Wayfinders.

A continual flame cast by a cleric (3rd level spell) will keep shining even in a darkness spell (but not deeper darkness). If you can get it Heightened to 4th level, it works even then.

Also, put it on your sword for style points.

...or on a holy symbol (cleric with fire domain)

...or on a cap (for a gnome)
...or on a tongue ring. (does this add to Intimidate?)
...or on the lining of a cloak (or skirt)

that is a good point

although if you want a bright sword many magic items glow you can just buy one of them (or did that not make it over from 3.5 i will check) (although the continual flame still of course shines brighter)

of course the best way to get light coming from your weapon is to have a weapon that can burst into f&#@ing fire on command

I have one of these, but it doesn't add to intimidate.

Tiny exception on the tiny exception: Or if you have a way to not need to pay the 50 gp anyhow.

False Focus, for example, would obviate the cost, since it substitutes for material components up to the value of your holy symbol, max value of 100 gp...

My Sorcerer (Razmiran Priest) is probably going to blow a feat for Heighten, already has a holy symbol worth 100 gp; and there are several ways to get the spell available without losing a slot. Wish spell lattices worked for Sorcerers, too.

Edit: D20PFSRD says that they do. So, 4k GP for a Spell Lattice with the 2nd level W/S Continual Flame in it, and the Heighten Spell metamagic feat....

I'd personally suggest the Page of Spell Knowledge over the Spell Lattice, for the simple fact that you need to be the bearer of the Page (aka have it in a bag with you), while the Lattice needs to be wielded by you.

For other spells, sure.

In order to supply heightened Continual Flames to my allies? Probably not needed.

And, with a spell lattice, put it in one of the slots of a bandolier. ETV as to whether you actually need to pull it out or not, but it is easy for access when needed, either way, and you are probably blowing a full-round action to cast it anyway. Move to access, standard to start, next round standard to complete move to get away from your starting location and all the incoming.
