S&S: Enervating Pistol Question

It states on the card (second paragraph) that it can be shuffled into the deck and 2d4 could then be rolled for reducing the difficulty on a combat check (like Wand of Enervation). I'm assuming that this would count as playing a weapon and , thus, the same character couldn't also play a card such as the Keen Falcata +3 for the combat check. Am I correct?

Yes, that is playing a weapon. Using any power on the card counts as playing that card, so it counts as playing a card of that type.

Enervating Pistol is designed to be most effective for Seltiyel with his Marauder Role (ranged skill power). He can use the pistol's enervation power to modify his own combat check, if he uses a spell for his combat check and recharges a different weapon for extra d6s.

It's also useful for anyone that is weapon (co)primary to be able to assist in other combat checks.
