Thinking about picking up FGGs Quests of Doom for Pathfinder. Before I do I was wondering what everyones opinion of it is? How is it overall? How long are the adventures? 1 or 2 sessions worth each one? Also how is the the cartography for the maps.
Also are they any 1st level or 2nd level adventures?

Hey Silver just check and thanks for the rundown on the adventure levels. I guess they decided to skip levels 2 to 3 and jump straight to 4th level adventures. It would of been nice to link the adventures together to form a loose knit campaign.
How is the cartography on the maps? Also what is the general length you would guess on the adventures? A couple sessions worth each one?

I downloaded my pdf today (I backed the kickstarter but was busy with school until now). I really like Quests of Doom. I'm a big Frog God Games fan, I have Rappan Athuk and Return to the Tomb of Horrors Complete in the Pathfinder versions. I've skimmed all of the adventures and read a few more thoroughly. They have a lot of the best qualities of 1E in my opinion. I recently bought pdfs of a lot of 1E adventures recently, the Quests of Doom have new magic items and artifacts, dangerous traps, and are designed for the classic D&D party configuration (one or two fighters, divine caster, arcane caster, and rogue). They are less lethal than Rappan Athuk but will challenge players. I recommend Quests of Doom if you like 0E, 1E, and 2E style adventures or like Rappan Athuk and Slumbering Tsar.

Thanks everyone for their opinions. I did pre-order the book from FGGs. Skimming through it looks good. My only initial complaint is the 10 ft square on almost every map. 5 feet squares are so much easier to use. Overall looks good. Hopefully I get a chance to run one of these adventures.
Also I'm hoping in the future we get VTT support on the maps. Playing 90% of my games online now I tend to pass on black/white books now. I want to use full color images in my games rather b/w ones. Plus having properly scaled full color maps are golden.
Would be willing to pay extra for a bundles of maps to Lost City of Barakus, Stoneheart Valley, Rappan Athuk, etc

Bill, I actually didn't have to change much. It was more just a matter of determining and defining what actions could be done by whom and what within the scorpions. The PF rules as written pretty much handle all the movement and maneuver issues you were building. It was not as daunting as you're giving me credit for.
However, I did not playtest it, so I am anxious to hear how playable it was. The scorpions could be clunky to run in a fight (they're basically just a souped up apparatus of the crab), but I didn't want to take away from the cool outcome tables you guys had cooked up and left them in as part of our "1st Edition Feel" focus.

For the QoD do they take place in the FGG campaign setting? If so could someone tell me what region they primarily take place in? (i.e. Sinnar Coast region, Akados region)
I know your products are plug and play for any scenario but if they are written with specific locations for the FGG campaign setting I'd love to know.
Thanks,
kK

Hi KK,
The adventures in QoD are all written to be placed in any campaign world that you want, though each has a paragraph at the beginning stating where they are placed in the Lost Lands (the FGG setting) if you are wanting to use that campaign setting.
In the Lost Lands the adventures are not constrained to a single region and tend to be scattered all over with some in the Sinnar Coast and Gulf Akados regions but even more abroad to give little snapsnot glimpses and hints of other areas from the upcoming setting. Most of them take place in the continent of Akados (the one that is featured in the Gulf of Akados and Sinnar Coast region maps), but at least two of them take place in the continent of Libynos if I recall correctly.
I'll give a quick breakdown for you (going from memory, so apolgies for any errors):
Irtep's Dish - Bard's Gate (Gulf of Akados region)
Noble Rot - northern Kingdom of Foere (south of Panetoth [Gulf of Akados] and west of Province of Aachen beyond the Terminus Range[Sinnar Coast])
Dead From Above - County of Cerediun (Sinnar Coast region, edge of the Scar-in-the-Sky Peaks)
The Darkening of Namjan Forest - northwestern extent of the Grand Duchy of Reme (north and west Panetoth on Gulf of Akados region map - same area as Curse of Shadowhold and Six Spheres of Zailhess and other NG and FGG releases [can't think of them all at the moment]
The Sorcerer's Citadel - The Lost Mountains (extreme northwestern corner of Akados [far west of the northern part of the Gulf of Akados map--across the Haunted Steppe])
Ra's Evil Grin - an isolated equatorial island in the midst of Great Oceanus where it joins the Razor Sea (see Razor Coast for more info on the Razor Sea)
The Pit of Despair - the mountains surrounding the Sacred Table plateau upon which the ruins of Tircople stand (this one is in Libynos, northeast of Khemit [as seen in Necropolis])
Perils of Ghostwind Pass - the northern edge of the Cretian Mountains where Ghostwind Pass enters Yolbiac Vale (Sinnar Coast region)
Hidden Oasis - the deserts of western Khemit (Libynos)
Emeralds of Highfang - the Forlorn Mountains not too far north of the Domain of Hawkmoon (Sinnar Coast region)
Sewers of the Underguild - ruins of Curgantium in northeastern Foere south of the Terminus Range (just west of the Province of Aachen [Sinner Coast region])
The Pyramid of Amra - the deserts of Khemit (Libynos)
Isle of Eliphaz - a remote island in the northern arm of the Crescent Sea (due west of the port city of Reme, which is due west of Panetoth [as shown on the Gulf of Akados map])
Deep in the Vale - a small valley on the western edge of the Helcynngae Peninsula (south of County of Cerediun beyond the Helwall [just south of the Sinnar Coast region])
Dread Dragon Temple - an island in the southern extent of the Crescent Sea (more or less due west a LOOOOOONG ways from the County of Toulen, beyond the Kal-Iugus Mountains [as seen in the Sinnar Coast region])
Of Ants and Men - just south of the Penprie Forest near Endhome [Sinnar Coast region]
Death in Dyrgalas - central Harwood forest south of duchies of Mains and Saxe (due west of the Kal-Iugus Mountains about halfway between County of Toulen and the Crescent Sea [so west of the southern portion of the Sinnar Coast region])
Bad Moon Rising - farther west along the southern edge of the Harwood Forest where it approaches the Kingdom of Withy-Strythe (this is getting much closer to the Crescent Sea [this would also be roughly due west of the Kal-Iugus Mountains on the Sinnar Coast map])
We did not endeavor to put these all in the same region because a) we wanted to give some sneak peaks of different areas of our setting and b) we weren't making an adventure path as we have in some of our other products (see the upcoming Cults of the Sundered Kingdoms for an AP in the Sinnar Coast region).
Hope this is helpful to you.
Greg
