Westbound is 30% funded in the first 5 days, and we still have 40 days to go!

Come on guys, we need your support reaching our goal!

Woo! Thank you Mead! Come on guys, we still need your support!

Here are some things you can do to get attention. In my opinion. Put together a sample product that is maybe 5 pages long it can even be old stuff with an advertisement for the kickstarter in it it and put it on OSB as a pay what you want or free Call it the westbound preview and at least a few people will get on board if they like what they see.

Get very active on all the major pathfinder/tabletop rpg boards so people will hear about it. Try to get on a RPG podcast as a guest. You are the primary in this telling us backers to help is good but if people don't see you pushing, pushing with every trick they will question your desire to get this done and wonder if you are up to the task.

Will link to it on my site in a current KS-post.

Get on Know direction podcast. Do an interview with GMS magazine and/or Nerdtrek.

Send an OBS-mail to your customers - they now allow for KS-advertisement.

Provide samples here and on other boards.

Starfinder Superscriber

Dotted, I'll check it out again after payday.

Get an interview in Pathways and on Demiplane of Gaming, should the latter revive.

Thanks for the feedback guys! I'm just the designer for the project, so I'll pass all of these suggestions onto our business guy.

Throughout this week, I'll post links to some of the updates that have been posted to the Kickstarter page, just to give visibility to them here as well.

Stick around guys, more great stuff to come!

Good to hear it.

Also maybe take out claims that Pure Steam is

because I'm not sure how you could claim that.

Honestly fairly easy. If you're making the definition yourself, you can segue your own work in as the definitive one. I'm sure most of us designers have been guilty of using this once or twice.

Heh. Fair enough. Which does make the definition of "definitive" kinda worthless. I guess my hyperbole meter is at saturation point. Or working night shift is increasing my grump factor exponentially.

Good luck with the project folks!

That is fair, but semantically speaking when comparing similar steampunk campaign settings for Pathfinder, Pure Steam is the most true to the traditional concept of the steampunk genre; portable steam technology primarily, other pseudo-science secondarily. Magic is sort of an afterthought in our campaign setting; it exists, but mostly in the traditional fantasy sense, whereas technology is primarily based on pseudo-science.

Rhune is mostly defined as stormpunk.
Midgard is mostly defined as clockworkpunk.
Thunderscape is mostly defined as magepunk.
Terah is mostly a combo of magepunk/steampunk.

But yes, as developers/designers, we all need to toot our own horn a little bit, right? We believe in our product/content, and want to make that fact known.

SNEAK PEEK: WESTBOUND MONSTERS
Today, I'll feature a sneak peek of the concept art for a couple of the monsters you'll be encountering in Westbound.

We are proud to introduce our new creature artist, Bekah Crowmer, and her concepts for Westbound's Jackalope monster and Clockwork Plagued creature template.

Check them out HERE!

As always, please support us to help bring these creatures, along with nearly a dozen others, to life and your tables with Westbound!

SNEAK PEEK: WESTBOUND VEHICLES
Today's feature is vehicles, Westbound vehicles. Our vehicle artist, Alejandro Lee, did such gorgeous work for the Pure Steam core book, that we had to bring him back for Westbound as well.

Check out our vehicle teaser, and then check out his gallery (can you find the Steam Dragon?).

Don't forget to send some support our way! We only have 24 days left to fund, and still need your help getting there!

Half in the first week? You got this - no worries :)

Psst, it's a 45-day campaign...

I'm REALLY hoping this gets funded... Last truly western-themed Pathfinder product (that I know of) failed to get funded (DragonStar - unfortunately named as it probably was a disappointment to those looking for Dragonstar the sci-fi D&D setting).

Well, I caved. At this stage, I'm in for $35 (Westbound PDF + all digital add-ons). I'm sure the print will be gorgeous, but sadly, Australians get absolutely gouged for shipping.

TALKING STRETCH GOALS
First of all, thank you all for your support of the project thus far; we truly appreciate your backings. We are really excited to get this Wild West content out to everyone.

With that, we are nearly 50% funded with slightly less that 50% of the funding timeframe remaining. We are confident that this project will get funded, so we'd like to talk stretch goals.

Please continue to support us guys! If you already backed us, or are unable to back us, then help us spread the word!

SOUNDTRACK PREVIEW
With less than 2 weeks remaining for our Kickstarter campaign for Westbound, we still desperately need your support!

To further entice your support, here is a preview of the Westbound soundtrack, developed by our own staff composer, Soft Servo, that you could receive with your donation; music to blaze a trail to, or wrangle yourself some bandits to!

Our Westbound Kickstarter campaign still needs your help guys! 28% left to fund and only 6 days left to do it! Please donate if you can (any amount helps) and share the link out to your friends, family, and social networks!

We are SO close!!! Thanks guys!

Just wanted to give this a bump. :)

LASSO FEAT CHAIN PREVIEW
With only 4.5 days left, we still need a little less than $4k to reach our funding goal.

As an incentive for your pledge, we have a little teaser of our Lasso Mastery feat chain (still in development), available in Westbound. What is a cowboy(girl) without their lasso? Hope you guys like it.

As always, we still need your continued support in reaching our funding goal. Please donate and share out the campaign!

SAND TROLL PREVIEW
3 Days left for the Westbound Kickstarter!

Today, we have a stat preview of one of the monsters you'll encounter in Westbound, the Sand Troll!

The wording of some of its abilities are still in development, but how does it shape up so far? Would this be a monster you'd like to see in your campaign? Let us know!

Looks like it is getting there.

Backed (physical and pdf copies). May purchase a hardcopy of Pure Steam at some point as well. Hope you get the final 1700ish!

NEW CAVALIER ORDER PREVIEW
Thanks for the support Thefuzzy1!

As of writing this we have just surpassed the $13k mark! We are fairly confident we'll fund, but we'd also like to hit those stretch goals (they simply equate to a better product for you all!).

In celebration of our near funding, we've provided a sneak peek into the new cavalier order we've developed for Westbound, the Order of the Lone Star. Check it out and let us know what you think!

Backed! Finally a setting that my chirurgeon/grenadier alchemist snake-oil salesman can call home. :D

...giving an anti-slavery organization an ability called "Rebel Yell" is... kinda iffy.

EDIT: For that matter, associating it with the Texas Revolution is directly contrary to actual history. One of the causes of the Revolution was the Mexican government's abolition of slavery throughout its territory. The slave-holding Anglo-American settlers objected, violently.

Thanks! And coincidentally, Westbound will feature an actual snake-oil salesman alchemist archetype called the Huckster! (replaces bombs for snake oils, temporary insta-extracts, with some abilities to support their swindling nature)

Why? They are a rebellious lot by nature? And they are more anti-oppression than they are anti-slavery.

While closely linked to/inspired by American history, the Pure Steam campaign setting has its own Ulleran history. The Order better represents the perspective of the slaves seeking freedom, than the Americans trying to keep their slaves. In Ullera, humanoids were slaves to Goblinoids for centuries.

REALLY hoping this gets funded. The desert skiffs are something I'd intended to use in a wild westernish campaing ever since I played Breath of Fire 4, and the cycles look awesome.

The term "Rebel Yell" is very specifically a Confederacy thing.

The problem is you've packed them with Confederate imagery. Rebel Yell, Lone Star, Come and Take It... it reminds me uneasily of people who wave the Stars and Bars and then insist that no, it was all about states' rights and resisting perfidious Northern manipulation, not about slavery at all! I understand that's not what you're intending to aim for, but it's kinda too close for comfort.

May I suggest you look instead toward John Brown and the other abolitionists of the time, the Secret Six and so forth?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Well, I know that I like it the way it is. This is not a real world setting, it's not even alternate history.... It can take whatever real world imagery and give it it's own meaning just fine, IMO.

Whoo! Squeeked by!

Having never done so before, how do I add a pledge addon? I'd like to get the physical copy of Pure Steam with my pledge.

Warhawk7, all you need to do is pledge the extra $20 above the $50 pledge, and then at the end of the campaign, we'll send out a survey for you to indicate all your add-ons.

Thanks again for the support! We're almost there; only 7 hours left before we officially fund!

Westbound has officially funded! Thanks again to all of you who helped us make this project a reality! I cannot wait to get this game product into your hands! Stick around!

Congrats, guys!

Congrats, guys.

That's the way to do it, mates! Knock this one out of the park and maybe you'll see $25,000 next time.

Congrats on your funding I look forward to seeing the book in the future.
Sorry I missed out on your Kickstarter. My group loves your Pure Steam campain book and I'll be buying it once it's avalable for purchase.

Will this be available on Paizo.com?

I bought Pure Steam from Paizo, so I presume so.

I will be purchasing it, naturally. Western settings are sort of my thing.
