I have decided, for me, some kind of divine spellcaster is best for PFS.
1) I love dwarves. Dwarves are good at being Clerics/Inquisitors/Warpriests.
2) my first PFS game had no divine magic, and had no tanks. Clerics/Inquisitors/Warpriests cover both roles and are "always useful" (even if there are others like them in the party).
I had a lot of fun in my first game, BTW, and I totally circumvented the final boss by thinking outside the box. My GM literally said "I'm doing mental backflips about this! You totally rocked this encounter with what you did, and I'm just disappointed I can't give you anything for it."

A link for Archives of Nethys. That's my go-to for quick reference, although I highly recommend getting Inner Sea Gods as well, for fuller background on each deity, as well as fairly good reading in its own right (it's the kind of thing I'm into).
