Archery, and Melee

Rules Questions

hey guys, just been looking through rules and cant seem to find a solid lead on if a bow can be used as a melee weapon. Does it have a damage table/threat range/crit mod, or is it all down to the arrow shot? Kind of been watching a lot of "Arrow" and was curious if that was possible is all.

You use the improvised weapon rules and treat it as either a club or staff, depending on the size of the bow.

Dark Archive

you can use an arrow as an improvised weapon. There are stats for it in crb. There is none using a bow but it would also fall under an improvised weapon. Perhaps the gm can simply house rule it into the game giving it a d4 bludgeon dam. and have the fragile condition.

I also think there is an Elf Feat or Trait that lets them use arrows as melee weapons.

Sovereign Court

Or just have armor spikes.

Scarab Sages

Or a spiked gauntlet/cestus/improved unarmed strike.

Unarmed Strikes or something like them are the best substitute for being able to bash someone with a weapon-haft or hit them with a bow. Since they're undefined, just flavor them how you like. Though beating someone with a bow is like whipping them with a fragile, valuable stick...

3.5 had Elvencraft bows that counted as quarterstaves, but I don't think they ever got the PF conversion.

No they didn't but I wish they would. Oh well, I'll just have to bug GMs into letting them be used.
