This has been making the rounds for a while as far as I can tell, but in case you missed it everyone's favorite iconic fighter Valeros looks a LOT like Mad Martigan, the swordsman from the movie "Willow." If you're not familiar with the film, here's the two of them side by side. Still the use of "Val" seems telling to me. What do you guys think?

I would be shocked if he wasn't a direct influence. Personality wise, however, Mad Mortigan is a skeevier Han Solo while Valeros is Conan if Conan wasn't kind of a monster.

James Jacobs has advised that the similarities are completely intentional. Searching his thread should give you some answers - I believe he's been asked about this several times.

I've never noticed that but yeah it looks like it. Loved that movie just watched it yesterday, and I was thinking of making an npc based on Mad Martigan. Now I know what mini to use.

Excellent!

Slightly more recent post with a tad more explanation! :D

Victory! Thanks for the additional information folks. I just saw the picture comparison on one of the FB groups I'm in and was dumbfounded that I'd missed that comparison. Wanted to share that moment of face-palm for anyone else who'd missed it.
