Wild Shape Question

Rules Questions

So, it appears that a Saurian Shaman Druid does not receive the ability to Wild Shape until level 6, but if they shift into a lizard/dinosaur they operate at Level +2. My question is: What is it that they gain?

Example: I am a 6th level Druid and I shift into a Velociraptor functioning at 8th level abilities? What is the actual change? Stat bonus? Ability bonus?

The Concordance

Duration. Times per day. The ability to change into a larger-sized creature than your standard level would allow.

I hadn't considered duration and times per day. That can be a significant difference. I am just trying to justify pushing Wild Shape off for 2 levels in PFS play.

The Concordance

Having played a Saurian Shaman to level 13.2 (this profile), I can relate that it didn't set me back one bit.

I relied on Totem Transformation at low levels, and standard-action summons plus my Animal Companion at higher levels.

I did end up taking Vital Strike, which coupled with Strong Jaw meant wildshaping into a Stegosaurus with a 16d6 tail slap, but I think I only ever got into a high-level melee maybe once.
