You could say the same about Fervor. This is basically to prop a 6 level spell caster up to be 9th level equivalent. If you limit the combos to healing and buffing, it shouldn't get too out of hand. Other limitations could be added on as needed. But I really suspect that with this ability, this class would still not be as powerful as a full wizard or full cleric.

maybe 1/2 BAB but more spells/day than other 6-level casters and can learn spells from any list.
maybe a "domain/mystery" grants 9 spells levels 1-9 at odd levels (1/3/5/7/9/11/13/15/17) to cast 1/day as a spell-like ability?
+1 to the "friendly fervor" idea. maybe as part of a Mysticism pool which allows repeats of Sp ability (above) and other perks (bonus on spell penetration?)...
cool idea.

Among the homebrew classes I use in my games is one called the Theurge- it does exactly this. It is essentially a 6 level caster with the wizard/sorcerer list and a 6 level caster with the cleric/oracle list at the same time, getting twice as many spells per day and known as a normal 6 level caster. I had both sides key off charisma rather than splitting casting stats.
Class features included a dualcasting ability usable charisma mod/day, and a 'Calling' akin to bloodlines or domains, which gave a number of unique powers and spells known, some at discounted levels. The net effect was you got 1-2 spells above 6th level castable, but that was it. A list of talents including familiars, limited domain powers, and some outsider-related abilities finished off the class.
