Errata on the Inquisitor's Steel Hound Archetype

Considering that Steel Hound is focused on firearms, is it overlooked or on purpose that the Investigator's Studied Strike only applies to melee targets? Considering it is precision based attack damage, shouldn't it also apply to ranged attacks within 30 feet, just like a rogue?

Close, it's a feat that requires weapon focus and only works with that one weapon. Minimum level of 5, effectively.
