Telekinesis with Disarm

Rules Questions

How would you rule being able to disarm someone using TK to get the item?

TK:
Combat Maneuver: Alternatively, once per round, you can use telekinesis to perform a bull rush, disarm, grapple (including pin), or trip. Resolve these attempts as normal, except that they don't provoke attacks of opportunity, you use your caster level in place of your Combat Maneuver Bonus, and you add your Intelligence modifier (if a wizard) or Charisma modifier (if a sorcerer) in place of your Strength or Dexterity modifier. No save is allowed against these attempts, but spell resistance applies normally. This version of the spell can last 1 round per caster level, but it ends if you cease concentration.

Disarm:
If you successfully disarm your opponent without using a weapon, you may automatically pick up the item dropped.

I am curious. My character is usually near melee, but would I have to be adjacent? Within 10 feet?

I am curious on peoples take on this rule.

*note:I did a few searching on this topic and found little that was decisive, however I may have missed something.

Pilfering Hand

Telekinesis

Comparing the two spells, Telekinesis is missing the line in Pilfering Hand that brings the object to you. However, being a 5th level spell (as opposed to a 2nd level spell) you might be able to talk your GM into allowing it.
